MOMs of B/G Twins

Do your twins call each other brother and sister properly?  My twins are 2 and DS has been calling DD "brother" consistently for the last several months.  We've always used her name or sister when we are referring to her, and he understands both of those.  But he will actively switch out DD's name or sister for "brother" when we talk to him about her.  Is this normal?  How do I fix this?  Should I bother?
Thanks!

Re: MOMs of B/G Twins

  • I can't advise on the b/g twins *yet*, but I have noticed with SEVERAL young kids they get the gender rolls confused :) My cousin called my mom "Uncle Kathy" for about a year lol.  I also have seen kids get mom/dad mixed up and so on ... just my opinion :)

  • Mine don't talk yet but if I ask where brother is or where sister is...they know.  I'm sure at some point they will think I am talking about them no matter which one I am talking about.  lol

  • My DD called her brother "Sissy" around 18 months and then he called HIMSELF "Sissy" for awhile. By 2 they always got it right that he was brother, she was Sissy, and they use each other's names (and nicknames). I think it's just a phase.
