nwmr: fashion challenge- boots, skinny jeans, short person...

I posted this on fashion & style on the nest but i have no clue about traffic over there...

I am 5 ft tall and while not overweight (I wear a 4 generally, though maybe a bit bigger in pants that are really fitted/tight), I am not a stick skinny person & could use some loss in the butt/upper thighs. I was feeling wayyyy behind the times with all my old wider leg & boot legged jeans & got a pair of skinny jeans at Nordstrom. But, I have no shoes to wear with them.

I got this pair of boots. I really like the style & comfort of them. However, they come all the way to the base of my kneecap b/c I am so short. That is semi- weird feeling, but more than that I feel like b/c of my height so much of my leg is covered in a boot & it makes me look shorter (plus I will wear looser tops on top that come down to hip/butt, so not that much of my leg is actually showing)... plus they're kind of wide b/c they hit me where my leg narrows unlike other people... the 'gap' is in the back of the boot though, not the sides.

So I ordered these to try them out... they come to my mid calf or maybe slightly higher and are comfortable. I'm just not sure about whether this style of boot is good w/ skinny jeans (or skinny black pants I have too)...??? I feel like everyone I see wearing boots & tight jeans has the knee high riding style...

    I wear skinny jeans and ballet flats all the time.

    You might also try a bootie (ankle boot) or a slouch boot.

    Most everything I see says short women should not wear flats w/ skinny jeans b/c it accentuates their height (or lack thereof) and makes them look shorter> I could see that for sure...

    I wear skinny jeans and ballet flats all the time. I am 5'3", so while not as short as you, still on the short side.

    I also wear sandel wedges

    Maybe try a boot with a heel?

    LOL my question was really about a mid calf boot vs a boot that is all the way to the bottom of the knee cap, does no one  who is short wear boots w/ these jeans and only flats or a heel?

    Ahh. Sorry. I read what should I wear and not which! Reading fail! :)

    I prefer knee cap. I feel like the mid calf boots will cut you off and make you look shorter.

    I just got these boots in the mail. I am super excited to wear them when it's no longer 90 degrees. They come about an inch under my knee cap.

    With skinny jeans I like really tall boots.  I am really short too but I find that as long as my boots have some sort of heal, they look good.  I never ever wear flats because I feel like it just makes my legs look super short and stubby.

    I agree.  I never ever wear flats.  Maybe short women who are super skinny and have super skinny legs and no butt can get away with wearing flats.  I definitely can't.  I'm thin but I have bigger thighs and a butt. (sort of pear-shaped)

    OK, I was not feeling hte mid calf ones w/ the jeans so glad I got some agreement on that...I actually own a pair of slouchy mid calf ones that I really like w/ skirts and I think will work w/ the black pants if I'm a little more dressed up but I can't picture them w/ jeans.
    I looked at the measurements of the taller ones and the shaft is 15"...many others have a 14" shaft so I was looking around at those , the extra inch might help me feel less weird, but Nordstrom did not have a single pair that was lower than these in my size (a 5 which makes it that much harder)... Zappos has some but nothing grabbing me as a better option, I will look at DSW if they do free shipping & returns (I do a lot of returning of shoes b/c of my size haha).... I never thought of them b/c they don't tend to carry 5's in the store.
