so DS has a whole buncha teeth! DD still only has 2 so she's perfectly cool with the combo of formula and purees. But our nanny told me (and I've noticed as well) that DS has started refusing the pureed foods and even spoon feeding. i tried doing some of the textured foods (steaming and mashing sweet potato) but like i said he's an independent little bugger haha. Wants to pick up food with his hands and feed himself. wondering if anyone has good, quick and easy ideas for foods? DH puts a lot of spices and salt into his veggies when roasting or cooking on the stove. should i just keep some separate? i assume olive oil is ok. additionally, i want to try scrambled egg yolks. do i need to talk to the pedi first or is it ok?
Thanks ladies....

E did really well with fries. We would cut french fry shapes out of different veggies - sweet potato, butternut squash, carrots, etc. and spray them with olive oil and bake them. She would hold them in her hand, eat what was sticking out past her fingers, then throw the nub that was left in her hand down for the dogs to eat, haha! She really liked that shape though because it was easy to grab and eat.

We use a lot of diced, steamed veggies/fruits/meats/cheese. They aren't huge into longer pieces of food unless it is crunchy. Otherwise, they'll just play with it and throw it onto the other baby's tray. They are obsessed with any sort of puffs or cracker, so I let them have them while I prep food, but not much longer or they'd fill up. They are big fans of butternut squash, broccoli, green beans, peaches, apricots, avocado...Lots of soft fruits, veggies, cheese. They are very into pasta, waffles, and rice cakes. They also love yogurt and we are now working on using spoons with yogurt and applesauce. I did scrambled egg yolk around 10 mos, which wasn't a hit, but I might try again. They also refuse purees, but will completely freak (in a good way) if I give them something out of a pouch. I would also smear some puree on toast.
I don't give them anything spicy, but I don't mind to give them food with spices. They go crazy for anything with cinnamon (LOVE cinnamon applesauce). I try to avoid things with added sugar or salt and am careful about the more likely allergens. But, that's really because they've had reactions to some odd triggers (DS1 gets a rash and projective vomiting from anything with oats and gets a rash from mangos, apricots, and citrus; DS2 had a rash from carrots). I also have a tree nut allergy, so it makes me a bit nervous with those. Had they not had issues, I think I'd be a little more adventurous with things.
I feel like the solids thing can be really overwhelming with two babies and two different sets of likes/dislikes/preferences, but it has become much easier since starting to do chunks and more table food. GL!

thanks for all the advice ladies! the "fries" sound like a great idea. DS has the pincer grasp down to a science. in fact he won't even let me feed him at all, he grabs it out of my hand. DD is still working on it. she grabs the puffs or food but then throws them (haha). it's more of a game
i love the idea of chickpeas too! thanks again...
