Sanctimommies

Oh, sanctimommy. No one here cares that you are vegan. Have you run into any sanctimommies lately?!

Wow where is everyone?! I haven't but only because I don't really know any other moms except mine and my crazy sister. Oh wait maybe my sister could count. I did a practice run for Ashleys birthday cupcakes and my sister said she wont have her kids eat them at the party. Really? One damn cupcake?!
Also just to add, there isn't even any sugar in the cupcakes!
  • I'm not sure what a Sanctimommy is?

  • Yea, one of my good friends is one but doesn't mean to be... it's hard though, she's part of the problem with my mommy guilt for going back to work. She's attached to her son at the hip (which I don't judge at all!!) Like he's over 1yr and she's going to a wedding in a few weeks for a few hours and that's the longest they'll have been apart ever.  She naps with him, bed shares, no baby sitting...

When I told her I was looking for work she said "Why??"  She's also said before that she's "so glad our babies aren't in daycare!"  Whelp... Raylan starts it next week...

She's super supportive like I said and doesn't mean to come off this way, but yea...

  • In the space of a 45 minute mommy and me class, this woman brought up their vegan ism about 5 times, and mentioned that they red shirted her 5 year old. Sigh.

  • I think I came across as one on accident the other day. There was chocolate cake for dessert at a family get together. I said "no cake for the baby." I walked back in the room and A was chewing. I said "dude, quit giving my kid cake!" with a grin. (It was green beans she was eating, not cake.) It was 7:30 and bedtime routine starts at 8. She did not need that much sugar, much less just before bed.

A few days later, out of the blue, my sister asked what I had against A having chocolate cake. Um, nothing. She loves cake. Just not right before bed. She said "oh yeah, that makes sense."

That is freakin ridiculous! My DD doesn't like sleeping in bed with us..she actually sleeps better in her own bed..and her head is perfectly round..that makes no sense

  • I mentioned to a good friend that I was leaving DD and DS with my parents for the night while we were at a wedding, I was met with the whole "I've only left my 5 year old once overnight and that was while I was having baby #2--who is now 3" I don't care that she's never left her kids but I could have dealt without the whole "you're kids are only young once remark" whatever. I'm pretty sure my kids had a blast with their grandparents.

You win for meeting the most sanctimommy of all the sanctimommies. What an a-hole!
This is the best part -- It was a father.

I hope you smacked this person. That makes no effing sense whatsoever.
@LauraT25, it's a guy I work with and consider a friend.  He and his wife are super super Attachment Parenting parents...extended breastfeeding into the 3rd year of life, co-sleeping, baby-wearing, all of it.  I respect their decision to do whatever the hell they want with their kids, but I always catch these little snippy comments from him (not her).  I just laugh.  It really doesn't bother me.  I am comfortable with the choices I've made for our family, and even more comfortable getting to sleep in my bed without any children kicking me in the face.

Oh, the other day, the same guy and I were out at lunch together (with a couple other friends from work) and saw a very well-behaved baby in the booth next to us.  I remarked how Henry was never that quiet, and his response was, "I bet it's because that baby is still getting breast milk."  Yea, dude...that's totes why.

@piffle42 Piffly I have so many questions! What is CFA? Why wouldn't she tell her kids about 911 sooner? Why do you live so far from me ( cause otherwise we could totally be mommy friends)?
Yeah I am on this train, I don't know what you are talking about but it still sounds like I wouldn't like that person.
    I think CFA= Chick fil A?
  • FFFC -- Despite its attitude toward gays, I fucking love Chick Fil A.

I don't care what other decisions people make, but it BOTHERS me that this dude thinks that a misshapen head can be prevented by bedsharing (wtf?  how is it different, head shape wise, than a crib?) and that breastfed babies are more well-behaved.  Just...wtf.
Yea, it's not the first time I've heard this tripe out of the mouths of AP parents.  FTR, my baby doesn't even have a misshapen head, it's just a joke my other friend makes to try to get at me (but it doesn't work, because I know my baby is adorable).  I've never heard the breast milk theory before, though.
