updates on PTing

Ok ladies,
How many kiddos are potty trained?  C is still not getting it.  I'm trying not to stress but I had already signed her up for preschool months ago with a start date of 9/1 and had to delay her start because she's just not there.  BUT, I did only try the 3 day method once and it was back in July during the 4th week when daycare was closed.  I also had a 1 month old at that point which was extremely challenging.  She occasionally goes on the potty but I have to say she pretty much could care less.  She's excited when she does go but it's challenging to get her to even try.  But last night (for the first time ever) she told me she wanted to pee on the potty, took off her diaper and went!   Should I pull the trigger and just take off the diapers for a weekend now that we're more settled with DD#2?  Or wait until she's showing more interest?  I don't want to push her but lets get the show on the road already lol

Re: updates on PTing

  • I am trying the 3 day method now and it isn't really working. I have decided that we will keep having him try and he will be pant less when at home. I figure eventually he will get it. The thing that is getting to me is all the pressure I am getting from the woman that watches him 2 days a week. She feels we missed our opportunity and he should already be trained. Just gotta keep trying I guess.
In answer to your question, I would keep trying if she is asking to go. That is a huge step in my opinion.

  • When I tried the 3 day method on G back in May, we failed.  He wasn't catching on and was having way too many accidents.

Then in July, I decided to try again but I took a more relaxed approach.  He wore underwear at home and I told him to not went the dinos/spiderman on his undies or they'd get sad.  We also did sticker rewards.  The first few days there were accidents but it was definitely better than before.  He tried to hold his pee this time cause he got upset whenever he wet the dinos/spiderman.  He caught on fairly quickly.  He just seemed more ready this time around.  And I think he appreciated the relaxed approach rather than me making him sit on the potty every half hour.

I had a lot of pressure from my mil and my mom to PT G and it made me really stressed out in May, especially when I felt like a failure.  When we tried again in July, I told myself to just give it a try and if it doesn't work, then whatever.  We'll try again later.  Fuck what everyone else thinks.  I think that helped me a lot, which helped G feel more calm about everything.

So, C sounds like shes starting to be ready.  If I were you, I'd just take her lead.  Maybe this weekend, try undies and see if she asks to use the potty again.  Maybe after a few accidents in the undies she'll catch on.  GL!
