Third-Party Reproduction

***Third-Party Reproduction Check-In (9/9/13)***

This weekly check-in is for anyone using/considering or who has used a 3rd party method of reproduction, including: Donor egg, donor sperm, embryo adoption, gestation carrier, or surrogate - also Donors, GC's and surrogates as well!

Hello! Thank you for your patience for the check-in last week and this week. I went through the last two check-ins and all the posts of the past two weeks so I *hope* I didn't miss anyone's updates! Please let me know if anything needs to be changed.

Check-In Week of September 9th:

1. Any updates? How are you feeling about things?

Re: ***Third-Party Reproduction Check-In (9/9/13)***

  • Everything is a go so far for the 9/23 FET! Estrogen is rising nicely and no added estrogen needed after today's blood draw. They are doing my lining check on 9/18, next Wednesday - then ET on 9/23 barring any other blips from my body.

QOTW: I have a lot of guilty pleasure names! I'd love a girl named Wisteria or Willow. For a boy, I love Ezra and Jonah. Ain't none of those happening so long as I'm married to J. :) Our 'real' names are Senara or Matilda for a girl, and Elliot (or maybe Shane) for a boy. I like those a lot too!

  • GL to everyone cycling and in 2ww, want nothing more than to see this board light up soon with BFPs.

    1. Any updates? How are you feeling about things? Everything going well here.  GTT in 2 weeks and graduated to appointments every 2 weeks a bit early d/t age.

    2. QOTW: What are your boy/girl "guilty pleasure" baby names - names you could/would never use, but that you love anyway! Bonus if you are willing to share your "real" baby names! Please do! We have no issue with girls names-Our top name for a girl was Jaidyn.  However, choosing a boy name has been challenging.  Our favorite at the moment is Logan Charles, and that is what we will go with unless we find something we like better.  My husband is a huge movie/music buff, if he can relate the name to anything it tends to be a "no."

TTC since 10/09 Me-43 DH-44 RE and testing 10/10-11/10, Recommending IVF 1/11 New RE AMA and DOR-DH low motility IVF #1.1 cancelled 3/11 due to poor response IVF #1.2 May 2011, one perfect 8-cell embryo, 3dt-BFN, IVF #2.1 Converted to IUI d/t poor response. • I'm just counting down the minutes until my transfer on Thursday! I can't believe it's almost here after the long road it took us to get to this point!

Good luck to the other ladies this week!

QOTW: I've never really thought about guilty pleasure names. I love the name Charlotte, which coincidentally our embryo donor just named her baby girl. Our real names are Samantha Lynn for a girl or Ethan Harris for a boy. Lynn was my mom's middle name and Harris was DH's dad's name. Both passed away from cancer in recent years and it's a way we want to honor them.

  • All my labs are back and are good other than finding out I have one copy each of C677T and A1298C MTHFR. So yesterday I started taking Folgard. We also received a reply to our questions from the donors.Today I'm going to send in the form that "reserves" the embryos we selected and then I'll have to pay about 4K when the clinic receives it. The next step is just waiting for AF to show up so I can go in for baseline/SIS. I'll be on vacation next week and AF is due the day we come back, only my cycles have been wonky all year and AF likes to make surprise visits when I'm on vacation. [-X I'm KMFX that the loads of B6 in the Folgard will help make my cycle a little longer.

QOTW: Names are so hard for DH and I. We rarely agree! When we first started TTC we both liked Kayden, but since then it has blown up in popularity and uniqueness. :( Last Sunday DH brought up the name again since we haven't talked about it in awhile. I explained that Kayden was off the table for me now. Thanks for ruining it everyone else! lol However, we both like the middle name Padraig for a boy, which goes great with our Irish last name. I'm sure it will be a hard sell for my family so if we use it maybe it'll just be a surprise for everyone once it's already on the birth certificate. I was into the name Meredith, but DH doesn't like it since it reminds him of the character on The Office. 8-| He ruins all my choices with bad name associations!

  • Good luck to everyone cycling this week & in the 2WW!

    1. Any updates? How are you feeling about things?   We selected our donor last week and had our financial meeting yesterday, which was the last remaining item within our control.  Now, we wait.   I'm trying to adopt a mantra of patience & hope, but that's so not me.

    2. QOTW: What are your boy/girl "guilty pleasure" baby names?  I'd like to use Sylver (after my dear mom-in-law Sylvia who passed away in recent years), but I don't think my husband will go for it.   He likes more traditional names.

    Me-41, Hubby-40.
    1st BFP-8/17/12!  Missed Miscarriage discovered @ 8 week US.  D&C.
2nd BFP-2/13/13!  Blighted Ovum discovered @ 8 week US. Natural miscarriage.
3rd BFP-5/22/13!  By early June, progesterone plummeting.  Another loss.
August 2013 - started Donor Egg process, but surprise BFP with my own eggs.
    Dear Son born 5/28/14
  • I'd love a girl named Wisteria or Willow.

Wylla is on my list!  (another my husband will probably veto.  Hmph!)
    Me-41, Hubby-40.

  • Ordering DS this week! It's been on "courtesy hold" for a week (or so) now. I'm CD5 today so I expect to O between 11-13 so this time next week I could be gearing up for IUI with DS!!! I can't believe it's happening so quickly. DH and I both are very much at peace with this route we're on. It isn't our preferred, as we'd love to have a bio kid like most other couples manage to be able to do, but it's the hand we've been dealt so we'll embrace it and hope and pray for the take home baby we so desire.

QOTD: Names...hmmmmm. I've always loved the name Logan (it's where I'm from in WV) or Brennan (mom's maiden name). I love Catelyn Grace for a girl. If it's a boy, my DH is the last male of his family so we'll probably name it Austin in some form, from his dad and grandpa. I don't really have any guilty pleasure names for boy, would love Cosette if a girl from Les Mis. I've loved that name since I saw it on Broadway, December 1992

Feeling good about our first BFP! It's a exciting time. Still in a little shock... When does that wear off? I'm getting my second beta wed so if that goes well I will be able to breathe again for a minute! Trying to keep it cool and not stress or get too ahead of myself!

  • 1. Updates: 36w tomorrow with our baby boy.  Home sick with a cold which has been pretty miserable.  Overall doing fine, though.
    2. We like simple/classic names, especially since we have a longer, Polish last name.  Our DD is Molly, and we are planning on naming our boy John or Luke.  Can't think of any of my guilty pleasures at the time!

  • Sorry everyone, work has been insane lately. I haven't had time to check in, or even be on the Boards.

I hope that everyone is doing well. I had my mock transfer last week, and hysterosonogram, oh my goodness that hurt because I completely forgot to take Advil or something before I went. But, all went well.

And I should also add my funny story to that, you know you have to go with the full bladder, right? Well, I get to the doctor's office and unbeknownst to me, a police officer pulls in behind me with his lights on. Not realizing it was for me, I started to get out of the car, he told me over his speaker "get back in the car" so I did, and I waited, and waited, and finally popped my head out the window, pointed to the doctor's office, and said sir, I'm sorry but I have a timed appointment and a full bladder for it. He got out, came to my window, took my info, and went back to his car. I guess he ran my information to see if there was anything outstanding, which there is not, so he came back and gave me a warning. I was lucky, but damn it was funny.

Next up, meeting with the nurses. We're shooting for a transfer in mid-October, I just need to get through the most stressful time at my job, without being worried about being stressed.

QOTW: You'll laugh, but I love Linus for a boy, and Lucy for a girl. Not because they are Peanuts characters, although I do get the irony that DH gets from this matchup, seeing as how I'm a huge Peanuts fan, but I just always loved the name Lucy, and since Ocean's Eleven used the name Linus for Matt Damon's character, I decided it was mainstream enough to be considered. Let's just say, DH is not on board, he laughed me out of the room, and we will ultimately have cats or dogs named Linus and Lucy. LOL!

SAIF/PAIF absolutely ALWAYS welcome to respond!

Check in: We met with a new surrogacy agency last week. Overall, things went well and they made a much better impression than the first one we had of them (our first impression was dismal at best). They gave us a few different fertility clinics to look into for cost comparison and they also suggested we looking into doing egg retrieval now and freezing them to ensure that we will have good quality embryos. Since I've had so many losses, they wanted us to make sure that there isn't some problem with our embryos before we got heavily involved in the process. The psychologist we met with really rubbed me the wrong way and kept harping on things that have a minute chance of happening instead of focusing on things that are more likely to occur, so I felt like that was kind of a waste of time. I understand that we have to talk about some of the what ifs, but we can't talk about every single one of them. She also didn't know our history so when she asked about stress and I said the 6 losses and inability to have child were my biggest stressors, she had no idea what I was talking about. I don't understand how you can effectively analyze someone if you don't even know why they are pursuing surrogacy in the first place. The agency was pretty hopeful that we would have a match to a surrogate by mid-October, so that was quite exciting!
QOTW: I love the names Ian and Liam, but DH is not a fan.

    TTC since April 2010

  • I'm PUPO! Just had my transfer a few hours ago. Still sitting in nasty NJ traffic. Going in for monitoring on Thursday then Beta is next Thursday.

QOTW: Well dh and I are confident about Benjamin Ethan so the initials will be BEN- 2nd son is a stretch with Evan Vance Ackerman (his moms maiden) so those initials will be EVAN also. We're corny. We both like Anastasia for a girl- but I like the nickname Asia or Stacy and dh doesn't. Plus after the 50 shades movie comes out I don't want people thinking I named a daughter after that. I love my moms name, Lucienne. But dh's mom also passed away in the past 5 years- so it's not right to name after one and not the other. Ha ha I just asked dh. Apparently we agreed on Alessandra Lucienne and Anastasia Linda in that order. Good thing one or us remembers.

It's so exciting to see everyone's progress on here and how big our little community has become! Hugs to everyone who needs them!

No real updates here.  Things are going along nicely.  I have an u/s Thursday and I always get so nervous before them... what if there are no heartbeats?? Hopefully I will be able to leave infertility brain behind one day.

DH has semi seriously proposed the name Clark, Kalale (or however superman spells his name) and Aston Martin. I have had to sit him down and let him know there will be no children named after cars or superheros in this house.

  • Update: 22 weeks today. Had anatomy scan last week. Our little man looks great, has VERY long legs, and likes to put his feet in his mouth...lol. My blood pressure was very high again (which was extremely frustrating because the prior week it had been down well into normal range). I have another BP check tomorrow to determine if they change my medication or pull me out of work. As much as my job makes me crazy at times, I am not ready for that to happen yet.

QOTD: I don't have any guilty pleasure names, really. I always loved the name Christian but between sounded like a bouncy ball with our last name, becoming too popular, and 50 Shades of Grey, the name is totally taboo now.

Our actual name for our little boy is Caleb Cameron. If we ever have a girl in the future, she will be Finley Virginia (Virginia being after DH's aunt who passed away right after we met).

  • I have had to sit him down and let him know there will be no children named after cars or superheros in this house.

    This made me laugh!

  • 1. Any updates? How are you feeling about things? Still in the 2WW, but not feeling optimistic. Negative yesterday and day. CD1 should be Saturday. Send positive thoughts!!

    2. QOTW: What are your boy/girl "guilty pleasure" baby names - names you could/would never use, but that you love anyway! Bonus if you are willing to share your "real" baby names! Please do! I used to have a name list on my phone but after the diagnosis I deleted it, too hard to look at. We did have one family name on there that my sister in law ended up using as a middle name (won't claim name stealing but I was upset)

  • 1. Any updates? How are you feeling about things?
Our GS tested yesterday and there's two lines! We have our first beta on Friday and second on Monday. My last pregnancy was a chemical so I'm really anxious about things, but trying to be calm and hopeful.

    2. QOTW: What are your boy/girl "guilty pleasure" baby names?
There are a ton of names I like that end in "a," but since my last name also ends in "a" I won't use any of them (like Olivia or Amelia). I also love the name Sawyer, but my husband is anti because he's an attorney and doesn't want a son whose name rhymes with lawyer. Oh well!

  • @KateBee how exciting!! FX for a great beta on Friday!!

Love the name Sawyer but maybe because that name reminds me of the hottie on LOST?? Heehee....

  • Hi everyone!  Sorry I haven't been posting much.  I was in negotiations with my donor about a sticky provision of the donor agreement, which I think is close to being resolved but hasn't been resolved yet.  (It's regarding what to do with leftover embryos.  I want to be able to donate to another couple.)  And the donor was out of the country until late August, so her screening wasn't until last week, and they ran a couple of additional genetic tests (seriously, some clinics don't test for Fragile X??) that won't be back until next week, so apparently to make a long story short she can't really start stims until mid-October.  So . . . more waiting.  I try not to obsess over the boards too much when I'm in these fallow periods or I just end up feeling dejected.

Guilty pleasure names?  Hmmm.  Maybe Tamsin, for a girl, and then there are also my imaginary triplet boys Otto, Bruno, and Hugo.  LOL.  Not telling anyone my "real" names yet because I'm jinxed enough as it is.  ;-)

I'm pretty sure that's why I actually love it so much!
  • Hey all!  Hugs to those that need them, and congrats to the progress and BFP!  Good luck to those gearing up to cycle.

Had a baseline appointment today, I have lots of follicles which apparently means I will have less potent medication.  I suppose this is for my comfort/safety, but I hope they still get enough good eggs for my IPs!

I also learned how to inject myself today.  Funny story--I stabbed myself!  I was getting so damn cocky, too, lol--like, oh I've done mixing like this in lab, what a piece of cake, I'm so smooth--then I popped on the cap and the needle went *through* the plastic and stabbed me!  The nurse says she's never seen that happen before.  Haha, I won't make that mistake again.  I also got to (got to, yeeeeah) practice injecting myself and it was super easy, so that was a relief.

I also got a tentative calendar.  I will have mid-October stims with an early Nov ET.

Guilty pleasure names, oh I have volumes!  Just off the top of my head, Paisley (I have a thing for patterns ;)) and although I don't consider Felicity a GP, DH is a total no-sale.  Sad!  For a boy, I always loved Randy, aaaaand then I made Irish friends.  In the British Isles, randy=horny.  Even though I still love the name, I cannot do this to a child envisioning someday, "Hi, I'm Randy."  Cue hysterical laughter and/or face slap. :(  So I have switched my allegiance to Riley (not my top pick though).
  • Hello all! Sorry for the late check-in!

I am sending positive energy to everyone in the 2ww and everyone cycling now! It's so awesome to see all of the BFP's! Hugs to anyone who needs them!

    1. Any updates? How are you feeling about things? Things are good here. I'm CD 18 and still haven't seen a *convincing* positive opk, so we are still waiting for a temp shift or positive test. We did ICI #1 for this cycle yesterday (Wednesday) and we are doing another on Friday. If I don't get a positive opk or temp shift by then, we'll do one more on Sunday. Feeling much better about our timing on this one. I'm seeing an acupuncturist who is doing everything she can to help!

    2. QOTW: What are your boy/girl "guilty pleasure" baby names - names you could/would never use, but that you love anyway! Bonus if you are willing to share your "real" baby names! Please do! I love so many names that DW doesn't like :) For a girl, I love the name Ivy, Addison, Piper, and Harper. For boys, I love the name Max, but it is too popular. For some reason, girl names are easier for me to come up with than boys!

TTC our first. Married to, and madly in love with, my beautiful wife. Living with our fur baby and enjoying 19 nieces and nephews.
    • DW and I have been tracking, preparing, getting medical testing since January 2013.

    • Fourth Cycle:  Monitored clomid cycle  w/ ICI's at home: 1/24/14 and 1/25/14. Ovulation verified:  BFN

  • Hi!
My DW and I are in the 2WW. She will test 9/25. Eek!
    Check-In Week of September 9th:

    1. Any updates? How are you feeling about things?

We are so excited! 2 follicles. Sperm count was a little low. The vials don't seem to take their freezing and thawing well, which is disappointing. But all seems a go! This is her 2nd IUI.

    2. QOTW: What are your boy/girl "guilty pleasure" baby names - names you could/would never use, but that you love anyway! Bonus if you are willing to share your "real" baby names! Please do!

Oh, funny! My guilty pleasure boy name is Beau; for a girl, it would be something like Scout.

Real names? Margaret and William. :) Baby-to-be names are equally classic.
