Nanny Bonus

If you have a nanny, what kind of (how much) year end bonus do you give, if any.  Also, how often do you give raises, and how much?  Thanks in advance.

Re: Nanny Bonus

  • We typically give a year end bonus of about a week's pay.  Maybe a bit more or less depending on performance, reliability, etc.

Raise is usually annually, but we had our 2nd after our nanny had been with us for about 6 months.  When I went back to work and she was consistently caring for the 2 kids alone, we gave her a substantial raise.  I can't remember the number.  25% or so.  That was in June.  DD1 goes to preschool 3 1/2 days, so she has DD2 full time and both for 2 full days and 3 1/2 days now.

We probably won't give her another raise until next June.  It will be more along the lines of 5% or so.

  • At end of year we give her the week off with pay and then a weeks salary on top of that.

Haven't done a raise yet because when she started she was with him 7-7, now he's in school part of the day so she's able to use that free time to run her errands, see friends, etc.  But we do now leave money for eating out now and then as opposed to only buying groceries.

Will have to figure out a fair raise for when DS #2 arrives at end of year.
