So much for a "lovey"

DS has been napping/sleeping with his froggie lovey since he was 5/6 months old.  He used to snuggle with it, eat it, fling it around etc.

However, this past week, when I go get him in the morning and after naps, I find his froggie on the floor.  We only have an audio monitor so I don't know what DS does when I leave the room.  Once or twice he has shoved froggie off through the slats before I leave his room.  I know he throws froggie out of his bed before he falls asleep, because sometimes I'll check on him 15 mins after he's quiet to make sure he is sound asleep, and I can see froggie on the floor.

Does anyone's LO does this too?  I wonder if I should even bother giving froggie to him anymore.

On the up side, I guess I don't have to buy a second lovey (kept meaning to buy an identical one for laundry purpose).  And I don't have to worry about him heading off to college with his froggie.

Re: So much for a "lovey"

  • and here I am wishing that she would take something and cuddle with it.  No way. she won't have it.  I've tried teddy's, blankies, the works...she just doesn't snuggle up to anything (except me).

will he fall asleep without it?

Actually now that I think of it, Olivia does this with her playpen.  As soon as she gets in, she throws almost everything out and then plays in the empty space, or with just one or 2 things (which, most of the time aren't even toys...like my tupperware

  • My LO will often throw his lovey over the side of his crib, but then he SCREAMS until we come in and give it bac to him. It's really sad--he looks devastated when we go in there, like he thinks the lovey is gone forever! He loves that thing. Usually he throws it over before he falls asleep or when he wakes up,when he's clowning around in his crib.

Yikes! That's no fun (the screaming). At least DS doesn't mind when his froggie is gone.

Yea it sucks! Thank goodness we have 3 of his lovies--I can't imagine if we only had one and lost it!

  • My LO throws everything out of his crib. But he hasn't become attached to one special thing -- I wish he would.
