Decided to adjust his own nap/sleeping schedule

I'm a FTM, and haven't really sleep trained...mostly because I don't know much about it. But I'm also a SAHM and DS kinda makes our daily schedule so I've let him nap pretty much whenever he feels like it. Well, he seems to have adjusted his own napping schedule and cut out the late afternoon nap he used to take. He skips it now, BUT that means he's STTN almost consistently now. Yay!
Just wondering if anyone else's LOs have given up a nap recently and started STTN also?

  • Sort of? lol Not consistently I would say. But he wakes up from his last nap at DC anywhere between 2:30-3. If it's closer to three, he will skip a nap and go to bed early at around 6-6:15. If it's 2:30, I can usually get him to go down once more and it's always super short-20 or 25 minutes. That will get him down around 7:30.  My personal preference is when he wakes from his last nap around 4:30, getting him to bed around 7. It just makes everything feel more relaxed and I can take him for errands after work if I need to. He stays home three days a week with his dad and a babysitter, and that is when I can usually find that time frame.

But like you said, I go with his flow. Today I picked him up at DC at 3:30, he had woken up at 2:50. I tried to get him down for a last one, but he fought it pretty bad. So he went into the tub at 5:45 and was TKO'd in bed around ten past 6. It's true what they say for my kid, at least. The early he goes to bed, the better he seems to sleep at night.

  • Mine cut out his late afternoon nap and goes down earlier for the night, but we are nowhere near STTN.
