What's everyone up to ?

my lil guy is playing, so mommy is taking time to finally get some crafts done.. I miss my crafting, but rarely have time nowadays so my projects to do list is growing quickly as the munchkin is

But tonight I am working on a project I had in mind before he even got here.. I am building an alphabet wall on a low partition wall  that is just perfect dead space, at the right height for him to use.  The project has varied a little from concept  but the base idea is the same.  I am hanging letter tiles ( decorated wooden blanks and wooden letters ) on the wall  which he will be able to take on and off and move around.  It's kind of hard to explain in type so when it finally gets done I will post pics and details... by that time it will probably have expanded to include colors and numbers and picture recognition too.

.... my projects always end up taking on a life of their own and I just tag along behind and enjoy the adventure and see where I end up.

We are under a severe thunder storm warning, daddy is in bed as he works tonight... so me an the munchkin are just hanging out and crafting, playing, watching TV and all that other jazz before bath an bed.

    That sounds great!  I am back at school (teaching) and am really busy with that.  I am teaching 1 totally new class (for me) and 2 others that I have taught before.  We have new textbooks in all those classes and new standards.  DD loves to play outside and to "help" me with whatever I am doing.  So cooking dinner is always interesting!

    I'm always busy. House, kid, lumberjack competitions, the Etsy shop. I sliced my finger a couple weeks ago taking a handle off the crosscut saw at a competition and ended up with 8 stitches right across the middle knuckle on my right pinky finger. I'm right handed. So that has added a whole new dimension to my days.

    DD is crazy. Always wants to help, always into everything, quite the attitude. That wears me out most days. DH has to work out of state for 2 weeks next month. No choice (they normally don't have to work out of state unless there is a big storm). Not looking forward to that. I really need that help and break at the end of the day. I know that about myself so it's going to be hard.

    I am finishing up painting projects around the house...only 3 more rooms to go! I have painted 9 rooms/areas in the last two months. At our last house, I put off painting some rooms for years and they were colors I hated. I vowed not to do that at this house.


    DD loves helping me sort laundry. It is so cute how she aggressively throws stuff in the baskets. She is also finally talking. I will have about 10 words to tell the pedi at our 18 mo appt at the end of the month. I am relieved!


    @Wipz, can't wait to see the finished project!


    @countrygrl5533, bummer about your hand! I saw the lumberjack competition pics on your blog. Looks tough!

    Sounds like everyone is doing well, except for your finger Countrygrl!

    We are also doing well. I am finally catching a break, DD is 6 months old now and able to play on the floor with DS. I work from home, so this makes things so much easier. Before getting married I was a hair stylist, I'm starting to do that again on the weekends in addition to my regular work. I miss being hands on and artsy.

    How many teeth does everyone have? DS only has 6 so far! I can see massive lumps in back where some day his molars will come in, but he is so behind on teeth.

    Sounds like everyone is keeping busy...sorry about your finger countrygrl.

    As for me, well just working and keeping the little guy busy. We live in California, so the weather is nice right now so we have just been bbq'ing every weekend.  I miss doing artsy stuff as well, so I'm excited for holidays to come so that start crafting :)

    Only 7 here! I think eight is trying to come in, but it has looked that way for awhile.

    I got a promotion at work, which is great but it's just a bit of an adjustment. I now have someone working for me that did a lot of the work that I used to do and it's been a little weird. It's a creative job and I'm having a hard time not getting too involved with this person's designs. She's doing a great job but her style is very different from mine so I'm trying to find a happy medium where I can give guidance without telling her what I'd do. I also had another employee with tenure who pretty much checked out so I've been working on getting her out of my area. It looks like that has been successful but instead of resolving some of the few things that she did do, she just pretty much packed up her stuff and moved to another building without telling anyone. She wasn't mad, and is a very friendly person, but her work ethic blows.

    Alexander is awesome. He's so much fun. He never shuts up and we're getting to the point where we can have tiny conversations. Even when he can't say a word, his comprehension is amazing so we play a lot of 20 questions with yes or no answers. He loves going outside and as soon as we get home from daycare, he runs to our front door and drags out his tricycle (we keep it in a cubby there) and yells "Mama! Outside!" We only actually go outside at that time once or twice a week but he tries almost every day, lol.

    I haven't even counted teeth in awhile. I know he has at least 16 and has a molar or two pushing through on the top.

    We are good. Little man, baby on board, and work keep me busy. My DH and I see each other as one comes home and one goes to work. We try to plan for at least one day a week where we have a family day out.

    We have been planning for the holidays. Right now I'm working on Halloween but I have also made quite a few ornaments for Christmas as well. DS loves craft/art activities and always helps the best he can.
