Did your carseat come with infant inserts? Generally speaking, aftermarket inserts are strongly discouraged for safety reasons....and if you use anything, it should be the same brand as your carseat (i.e., Britax makes an insert specifically for their seats)
I ordered two Graco snugrides. They have those ones that go around their heads. Guess I can use blankets if need be.
We used snugrides and never had any problems with the boys fitting safely and comfortably. Since they spent two months in the NICU they had to pass a carseat test before discharge, the doctors and nurses were very happy with their seat fit.
Married 9/22/07, began TTC 8/10
Diagnosed with DOR, LP defect, mild endometriosis and cysts
BFP #1 EDD 9/10/11, natural miscarriage at 6w
BFP #2 Medicated cycle, twin boys born 4/4/12 at 29w4d
BFP #3 EDD 8/8/14, D&C for missed miscarriage at 8w, baby boy with triploidy
We used them for the first few weeks-ours were tiny-around 4.5 and 5 lbs when they came home. The NICU nurse rolled blankets in either side of them to keep them from sliding around-so I bought the snuzzlers instead. We also use them in the stroller.

I have two Snugrides, a 32 (which isn't made anymore) and a 30. I found the 30 to fit my newborns best and it still fits her very well. With the 32, I had to stuff a rolled up cloth diaper between here and the crotch belt because she didn't fit properly for several weeks. It's not particularly safe to do that. And I couldn't adjust the position of the crotch belt at all. I also bought her some "bananas" for a better head support because the one that came with the 32 sucked. https://www.amazon.com/Summer-Infant-77390-Cradler-Ivory/dp/B0054G1JSM/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1379003745&sr=8-9&keywords=infant+carseat+head+support
So in short, it's really going to depend on your seats and babies. I like the 30's best and wish I had just gotten a second. It starts at 4lbs and it has good head support once they out grow the insert that comes with it. My other one in the 32 outgrew the "bananas", but ther space between the sides of the seat is so big that she flops while seated and sleeping. The one in the 30 just seems to have a much better comfort level. I can't wait to switch them to convertibles! But that won't happen until they can at least sit up on their own and I get a new stroller that fits in my car better than the SBS.
TTC since May 2006. After 3 failed Clomid cycles, 2 failed Injectibles/IUIs, 2 failed IVFs and 1 failed FET, we moved on to adoption!
Last ditch FET resulted in BFP, and identical twin girls!

We had the Snugride 32 with DD and hated it. We're currently selling it. (Doesn't that thing weigh a freakin ton?)
I ordered the traditional Graco Snugride that holds up to 22 pounds. We needed smaller carseats because we need to fit 3 across in my Honda Accord.

The 30 is a lot smaller than the 32, so it's easier to lug around for sure! The 22's start at 5lbs, so if the width is the same, you might want to consider the 30's. It's weird though, the 32 was perfect for my son, we didn't have the same fit issues, but then again he was 2 lbs bigger at discharge than the girls and had great head control from the get go. I swear he was born without a neck He has one now, but he is a sturdy little boy.

I wouldn't get anything special. Our boys were 4.5 lbs at discharge and their nurse just rolled up blankets and helped us understand fit during the carseat challenge. IMO, it seems like an unnecessary expense and, like pp stated, car seats aren't really supposed to have extra accessories. We had Chicco Keyfit 30s.

I have been really glad to have them. We drove first baby to be discharged home without and his head seemed to bounce all over. I feel much more comfortable with the added support. If you have larger babies it may not matter, our larger was 4 lb 3 (around 5lb at discharge). NICU nurses told us they were a good idea.

Well I ordered them from Wal-Mart so if they don't fit I'll take them back and look at the 30s. I also had to order DD a new carseat (Radian Diono).
Thanks ladies.
