DH works in the auto industry, and they are offering voluntar layoffs right now. They will be doing another round of layoffs in February. This is the third round so far.

The economy has also affected my business. Its normally slow before Christmas, but this year, its brutal.

Education is currently taking a major it, and there could be layoffs next year. I'm hoping Pres Obama helps that out ASAP come January.

I work in the banking industry. Luckily the CU I work for is very strong, did not dabble in the sub-prime loan market, and doesn't invest our money on deposit into the stock market (it goes back into better rates for our membership).

But, the industry as a whole is very scary right now. I live in Washington State, and WaMu headquarters will be laying off 3,000 people in our area in the near future. Which will flood our industry with qualified people who are in need of jobs. I'm very thankful I have a job and am, at least for now, secure.
