Ok.. I'm on the search - we have an ergo and I find for my 6' husband with a belly its just not working all that great - we bought a urban back pack carrier and despite wanting to love it both of us are finding it hurts to carry her (I think we may need to drop her lower) - a recent trip to the zoo then proved the other problems - she has a hard time seeing out / over and if I then drop it - won't that be worse?
So I'm back on the hunt.. I'm looking for Tule, Pikkoulo, mei tai (heck even a woven for me maybe - but the bigger issue is finding something I can strap to my tall bellied husband)
Lurker here. I just received my new action baby carrier. I got the toddler size for DD, she's 28" and 20.5lbs. It fits her great with lots of room to go. On the website they show a 6'5" dad wearing his LO. You can also order custom carriers in plus sizes.
I would get something like a Kinderpack (you'd want the standard) that has plus size shoulder straps. I think that really makes things more comfortable for a wearer with a broad chest/big shoulders. With the perfect fit adjusters, it will adjust down small enough for you to wear too - unless you are petite (although in that case there's really not a carrier that would fit you both comfortably!).
Another option would be a mei tai. The problem is that many of the readily available ones don't have very long straps. A Kozy with XL straps might work depending on his build. In general though the Kozy is a good option for that size/age for something that's easy to find.
And a woven wrap will definitely work - just a bigger learning curve
Thanks! WE are using the waist extender on the ERgo - its the arm straps and thus the chest clip thats the issue - I'm in the middle of making my own mei tai and he's really skeptical but I think it may be the best option! Thanks!!!
