Home Dopplers?

Hey ladies!

For those who have home dopplers.. would you recommend a certain brand?  Do they really work?  I think I would be obsessive with checking it!  Would love to hear feedback though.  I honestly didn't even know I could get one until I saw the HB post.

Re: Home Dopplers?

  • I want one too! I'm curious about all the same things!

  • I think it would be a worth-while investment! This is my first baby, and probably not my last.  I will be following this feed to watch for brand suggestions :)

  • I hear from friends who have one that they love it. If you have the money to shell out for it then I say go for it! I've never been able to have that extra money for one. Definitely do some shopping around, I would suggest a brand but I don't think I ever found out the brand that my friends used.

I bought the Sonoline B from www.fetaldoppler.net. Free shipping and it was $56 before tax. I found the heartbeat around 8 weeks but you have to press down quite a bit and close to your pelvic bone. I've tried since then but I think I'm only hearing my heartbeat and the placenta. Definitely watch the YouTube videos people have posted online to make sure you're looking in the right spot and also what noises to expect.

All This! Same brand and same everything :)

  • I got the Sonoline B this pregnancy. I have been able to find the heartbeat since right before 9 weeks, but sometimes I can't find it immediately and give up for a while. Anyway, as long as you aren't going to let this make you crazy, I think they are pretty fun to have.

Last pregnancy I rented a doppler. It worked really well and was the same one my doctor used. I can't say if it was any better than the Sonoline B (don't really remember).

  • I have the sonoline b also. I think it's the pocket fetal doppler. I love it!

  • I have a Sonoline B. I think that's the most popular brand here. It was $50ish and totally worth it. I've said it before but I will say it again. I used it often in the 3rd trimester. My daughter didn't move much. You are suppose to feel 10 kicks an hour and for me sometimes I felt no movement all day, barely 10 kicks a day other days. The Doppler was my piece of mind that everything was okay. Especially if you are a FTM and google about kick counting and find horror stories.

Here is where I got mine:

  • I got one last time around.  The brand I got is not sold in the States I think.  Also, I'm pretty sure the Sonoline B is as good and way cheaper than mine.  For me, it helped keep my sanity.  After an early loss the first time around, I used the doppler to reassure myself.  I've also read a lot of stories where moms became concerned and because they had the doppler checked and got help in time so to me it provided an extra layer for my peace of mind.  Totally worth the cost.

I thought I'd obsessively check it too, but as I left 1st tri I stopped checking as much and just started again at the end of 3rd tri when baby stops to move as much.

  • I have Angelsounds. It`s good but has no screen with heart beats per minute, I`m counting it myself for 30 seconds and then double the number.

Do you have the volume all the way up? The Doppler reads a number sometimes with no heartbeat detection. I would say you should definitely hear the heartbeat if its reading it. Maybe watch some YouTube videos on ladies using a doppler.
