What comes after sippy cups?

Dd is 3 and still takes a sippy cup to daycare for lunch. They practice using small paper cups at snack time. I am wondering when I should stop using sippy cups? What do you send for them to drink? I've seen juice boxes and milk boxes, but I like dd to drink plain milk and all I see in the store are boxes of chocolate milk.

We send a straw cup to daycare for DS. His daycare uses parent provided cups (usually straw cups) through the 3-year-old room and next year in pre-k they will use regular cups. At home we use a regular cup with a straw in it. That way he can practice not spilling but he drinks more milk when there's a straw in it.

You could do sippy cup to water bottle if you want to send something with a lid and straw.

But at my DD's daycare, once they enter the 2 year old class, it's regular cups only.

However, I will admit she still uses a sippy at home because she takes daily Miralax and it's the only way to make sure she's getting the whole dose. We also use them for long car rides and to keep by her bed (with water).

So if they use a regular cup, how do you send it to school? Or do they just drink water?

Do you have to bring milk every day for her? My daycare provides milk. It might be more expensive but you could get single serving milk containers from a convenience store. Would daycare let you leave a pint of milk up there that she could drink over a few days?

We have to bring our own milk, it's a large center, I don't think they want us storing stuff in the fridge more than 1 day.

DS uses a sippy but I bring a flip top water bottle full of milk to daycare everyday and they refill his sippy with that.

A 3 year old should drink from a regular cup. The schools I have sent my children to use regular cups from age 2 on. I would at least switch to a straw cup for milk. It is better for their teeth.

If you have access to a fridge at DC, you can send milk in a reusable 'juice box' like my mom did for me when i was in school.I dont think i knew that one time use juice boxes existed until high school and I started buying lunch. If you dont have access to a fridge then you can freeze it overnight and it will help keep it cold until lunch or a regular lunch box thermos can work too

I would send a container with milk in it and request it be served in a cup. Bring a cup if they require it. DD is 20 mo and she uses a cup about half the time.

Practice at home more w/ the open cup & then I'd just provide an open cup at school (if they don't provide cups there like that) and bring some sort of container for the milk. Like others, my kids have been doing open cups since 18 months as practice & more or less exclusively (except in their bedroom room for water & in the car, etc where they have straw cups or water bottle type things) since 2.
Also if you really want to do a milk box send the horizon kind.
Another thought, if you are giving milk other times of day, does LO really need it while at school? She could just have water while there if you are giving at home in morning & nighttime and you feel she is getting ample.
