So today we had our 20 week check. There was a long wait, our appt was at 5:15 and we weren't seen until 7ish, we were the last couple so I imagine the ultrasound tech was tired and anxious to go. She did the u/s, LO measured on track, heart rate good, we seen her little tiny feet and her legs, kidneys, knees, head, most of the important stuff. However she said she needed to do a transvag us because my cervix looks short. So I begin to panic. To then find that my cervix is fine and still plugged.
So we go to meet with the OB. Now he told me at our 16 week check because I'm overweight, they may not be able to see everything and if I want he can send me to my hospital to MFM to check. I declined. So today he tells me, "everything that we did see was normal and fine. The baby looks good. But we weren't able to see some things (I was so torn I forgot to ask what they didn't see). He said that the cord is coming out of the side of my placenta. He said that can be a problem closer to delivery and may need a c-sec., but he said most of the time it moves, they will continue to check on It.
He asked again if I wanted to go to MFM to get an U/S to see everything. I asked him what would he do if he were me.. He asked if god forbid the baby comes out with a defect, would I terminate. I said NO. He said he asks because im 20 week and terminating is limited to 24 weeks. He assured me that all that he seen was fine and normal. He said if I want to go I can, otherwise he'll see me in a month. I decided to take the script and I'm going over to the damn hospital. I have to make an appt and god willing they say everything is okay.
I have been down, uncomfortable and fat lately so to hear all of this going on just made me feel a hell of a lot worse. I just hope that my LO is okay.
Has anyone had experience with this??
Prayers please!

I'm happy you made an appointment to go in! I think that was the best choice because they will have more advanced equipment to take a good look at your placenta. Plus, it's always a good day when we can see our LO's on an ultra sound. I'll be praying for your placenta! Never thought I'd say that to someone.
