Bath update (andreahshields)

What a disaster!  I took the newborn sling out of the baby tub and set her in.  Our tub does have the built in bump to hold her place... it didn't work.  She was sliding all around, so I pulled out our big flat bath sponge to put between her and the tub.  That worked for a bit, and I was able to distract her with a toy.  But she really refused to sit still for long, she fought me the entire time and the toy was no longer distracting her.  Rinsing her hair is the hardest part because she follows my hands, so when I go up to pour water on her head, she looks up and twists and tries to roll.  Well she got semi rinsed tonight.  I think there's still soap in her hair, but she's dry, fed, and snoozing.  At least it wore her out!  I think Thursday, I'll try just the bath sponge in the regular tub.  I'm done with the infant tub!

    We used a bath seat in the awkward stage when DS could sit, but not fully unsupported or for too long.. Then I just bought a bath mat for the big tub..
    Loss #1: 18w5d.. D&E 04Mar03 BFP #2: Jun2011.. missed miscarriage. D&C 08Jul2011 8w4d. BFP #3: Nov2011.. Our Rainbow Baby!!! DS Born: 15Jul2012! BFP #4: Nov2012.. 2U1 - DS2 born 12Jul2013.  BFP #5: 01Jan2014..3U3!!

    Sorry you had so much trouble! We ended up using the infant sling for a really long time, like until 8 or 9 months, for that exact reason. Even when DD was able to sit unassisted she'd slide all over the place in the tub and it wasn't a good time for either of us. And we finally moved from the infant tub to the big bath tub at 12 months. Do what works for you and don't worry about moving up if you're not ready.

    Oh no, what a disaster! I had a similar experience so we bought an infant seat for the big bath. It's worked great so far and is a nice transition to the big bath when I can trust her to sit up on her own.

    @ct103 Where did you buy the seat?  I can't seem to find one anywhere.  I checked online and they're pretty hard to find there as well.

    If you have a buy buy baby, they have a bath seat that my son loves. He loves being able to see everything!
