Update to insurance & pump - and new ?

After callin. 30+ places yesterday, I called the insurance back and lucked out and happened to talk to the right person. She said that was ridiculous I had to call so many places and that I could go buy one at Target and they would reimburse me (despite them telling me the opposite yesterday). She said she processes claims for my employer so she will take care of it. Yay!

She said I can buy any pump brand at any cost. What does everyone like?

  • I'm an Ameda Purely Yours user and lover. I have one from 2 years ago that still works beautifully at home and another new one (through insurance) for work. Whatever brand you decide, I suggest a double electric.

  • I had a Medela Pump n' Style with my first and this time around I got the Hygeia.  It isn't as well marketed as the Medela products but according to two different LC it is the best!  It works as well as a hospital grade and it's a closed system so it can be used by more then one person.  I don't think you can buy at target but I know my hospital sold it in their out patient pharmacy.  I really like it.

  • Double electric FOR SURE!  I have a Medela PIS- and I really like it.  Granted, I have never tried anything else, so I have nothing to compare it to.  But I also have a wimpy manual Medela pump for at home- good for emergencies, but it takes FOREVER.

  • I have the Medela PIS and the manual (Harmony?). The manual is alot more work, but I think they are both great pumps. I also ended up with the parts kit for the hospital grade pump (symphony?) because A was in the NICU. I love that all my parts are compatible from pump to pump (minus the hospital tubes)- so I always have a clean backup set. All my IRL BFing/Pumping moms really loved their Medelas, so I followed their lead and don't regret it.
