Sleep suit weaning? (hold me)

LO is 5 and a half months. We've been using Merlin's Magic Sleep Suit for about a month and a half and it has been a godsend. Went from waking up hourly to waking only once a night.

However, I'm wondering if it's time to break the habit. She'll be outgrowing this one soon and I don't want to buy the next size. Also, the daycare tells me she has a lot of trouble with naps and I'm wondering if that's because she is used to the sleep suit at home. Or maybe it's just the age for naps to be a mess?

Either way, the magic sleep suit weaning will be upon us sooner or later. Any advice from those who have been there? I'm scared...

  • I hear that! We will be facing this soon too and I am so dreading it! She sleeps perfect in the sleep suit, and not so much out of it. I have no idea how to even start weaning of her of it if she grows out of it before she's ready!

Honestly I think sleep is well worth the price to buy the next size up! If your baby still has those startle reflexes, I'm not sure if there are any tricks left to help with sleep beyond the magic Sleepsuit. We use it for naps too. Totally a Godsend.

I agree maybe instead of going through a bunch of trouble in a month or two tour LO will be ready not to have it anymore GL

  • I was SO scared to have LO outgrow the suit thinking he wouldn't sleep well at all.

Call me crazy but I swear he decided when he wanted out of the suit. He was wearing the suit at night and a sleepsack for naps. He was waking once a night for food at 4am in the suit, and then one week he started waking up like 4x a night, whimpering and seeming upset but not hungry. I'd watch him on the monitor and I could tell he was desperate to get to his tummy to sleep like a nap but couldn't. One night I put him in the sack instead and he slept 10 hours, ate and went back for another 3.

  • Totally dreading that time when it comes, DS has been sleeping 10 hours straight in the suit it's been a godsend but I know it's just a bandaid. I do agree with PP who said she might just let you know when it's time to transition out, that's how we knew DS was done with the RnP, he started waking up every hour or so and trying to flip onto his side in it and we just knew he was done with it.

  • I am about to try to stop swaddling and will be buying the magic sleep suit. I don't have to much to loose considering my LO still wakes a lot a night. Hope it does't get worse!

  • We did the halo sleep sack swaddle because you can swaddle arms in and out. DS started rolling from back to front at 3 months and we needed to get his arms out. This you can wrap around their body and it was comforting but his arms were free
