LOs with rooms upstairs

How many of your LO's have rooms upstairs and yours is down or other way around? LO has been sleeping in a co-sleeper next to me and I told DH once he was down to waking one time a night we could move him to his crib. It will be a gradual move starting with naps but I just don't feel ok knowing he's that far away from us. I do have a video monitor and think we will all sleep better this way. Any thoughts has anyone made this move yet?

  • Thanks I will definitely take your advice on the naps in the crib idea. I'll start the process soon for naps he only sleeps in the swing or on me so this might be a challenge. I guess I'm just worried the video monitor will mess up and I would never hear him cry if that happened pretty irrational. I wish we had a one story!

  • We moved into our new house about 5 weeks ago and LO's room is upstairs. If we didn't have a video monitor, I think I'd be more nervous about her being far away. She has slept in her crib in her own room since she was about a month old though. Naps are a good way to start the transition!
  • We moved her upstairs to her crib at 10.5 weeks. She had been in our master downstairs in a cosleeper bassinet. We didn't practice napping beforehand and we haven't had any problems. The video monitor gives us peace of mind and it hasn't been nearly as bad as I thought it would be going up and down the stairs since most nights it is just once. Good luck!
  • Thank you ladies this makes me feel better about the move.

  • Our DD's room is upstairs. We successfully moved her with no problems just before her 3 month birthday. In addition to the video monitor we also purchased the Babysense Infant Movement Monitor. Basically the sensor pads go under the crib mattress and detect the slightest movements i.e. breathing. If there's no movement for 20seconds, the alarm goes off. Having this has made both DH and I 100% more comfortable having DD out of our room and upstairs.
