Thank you thank you for the love and support! Today went as perfectly as it could! The University was prompt and kind and skilled. Genetic counseling revealed that I am not, in fact, high-risk. I have a higher risk of down's due to the AFP- 1:130. Another nice tidbit was that I am not higher risk for anything but Down's Syndrome. The U/S was amazingly clear and showed NO marker's for Down's! She was healthy, growing perfectly at exactly 1 lb, and as wiggly and obstinate as possible! They don't officially lower my risk but said that technically it is now about 1:390 instead! I already knew I would not risk miscarriage from an amnio, but they readily offer a newer test that looks for Down's Syndrome from the baby's DNA in my blood that is 99.3% accurate. SO i feel a HUGE relief with the normal U/S but look forward to getting those results around next Tues to know for sure! The PAP's were also relieved and excited to be meeting this weekend.
I even felt compelled to share a pic of her face and one of her pitching a fit with her mouth open :-)
Thanks again- you ladies are amazing!
UPDATE: The University called me to let me know that the blood test came back and she tested NEGATIVE for Down's Syndrome! While this is not 100% conclusive, we are all happy with the 99.3% accuracy. I still have to go back in 5 weeks to see if I am clear of Placenta Previa, but the doctor said that it will more than likely resolve on its own before it's officially even diagnosed as PP and a real concern. Plus, it will be the first time baby's A-Mom will be able to see her move on an ultrasound.
