In light of 9/11...

This day 12 years ago changed our lives forever.  We have a lot of reasons to be emotional today.  I'm already in tears listening to a tribute on the radio.  Some of us may have lost a loved one in the Towers or Pentagon and many of us have seen our loved ones board planes to fight for our country.  We've all had something stolen from us, even just our sense of peace.  Instead of dwelling on only that, let's think about what we do have.  Tell me something you're thankful for!

  • Our country.  Even though it's not in the best shape right now, I'm so glad I call the US home.  I love that no matter how much we disagree on politics, beliefs, etc., when something happens, we come together.

My family.  9/11 has always impacted me, but now that I think of it from a wife and mother's perspective, my heart hurts in a completely different way.  Every day with my family is a gift.

Two cousins who have served our country.  One has toured once in Afghanistan and the other is on his 4th deployment.  He's been the new Iraqi President's main bodyguard, has been to Afghanistan twice (and is currently there) and has trained troops in Korea.  I'm proud of every man and woman who commits to our country in the military.  They have courage unlike anything I'll have possess.

  • My family. I have the best family in the world and I am more thankful for that than anything else in this life. Thanks for the reminder!

My cousin is in Afghanistan too.  This is his second time there and thankfully, the internet service has improved.  During his first tour, it went in and out.  He has two young girls and another on the way, so the internet is invaluable.
