I just joined the bump. My 1.5 year old is a doll, loves gardening and she is so affectionate. We live in Northern California.
I see some of you are TTC. We were thinking of (epp!) trying for #2 this October or November, but my friend said the health of the mom (blood iron, vitamins, etc) is restored if one waits until #1 is two years old; saying risks of autism, low birth rate, etc. decrease. She said after the first turns two, trying again near when you tried for #1 will ensure more health for all. So, that puts us not TTC until May 2014.
What do you think about this? I know plenty of closely spaced kids who are developing "great."
I'm also nursing a bunch for naps so really we aren't in a rush.
I'm pregnant with #2 and they'll be pretty much 2 years apart. All the testing and ultrasounds I've have show a healthy little boy. My OB had no problem with me trying whenever we were ready.
Hi, well I can only speak for myself but I got pregnant when DD was 9 months, and today is my due date (but no outside baby yet lol). I've had a healthy, uncomplicated pregnancy and my ob was ok with me ttc back in December. I got pregnant the first month of trying. Your Dr can give you blood tests to make sure you are healthy and start taking your pnv now. Millions of ppl have healthy babies less then 2 yrs apart, and no one knows what actually causes autism. Good luck!
I've heard the same about the rates of certain things being lower if you wait, but I turn 35 this month, so on the other hand the rates increase. I have to weigh my age with the timing and decide what is right for my family. We've been trying for awhile now, and I'm comfortable with our choice.
I thought 1 yr was "ideal"...I hadn't heard 2yrs. I'd definitely go in for a dr visit for routine blood work to ease your mind. If you're still nursing, you may be a little "drained" but shouldn't be that big of a deal. I would assume that maybe you're still on prenatals, because you're nursing...but if you're not, it may be a good time to start them back up, to get your body prepped. Good luck!
