As I've mentioned before, my dad is dying of cancer. I don't know how much longer we have with him. He had a good summer, but he's definitely slowing down.
My sisters and I have planned a combination birthday/anniversary party for my dad/parents this Saturday. Convention requires that we give a toast, but we're all sort of at a loss as far as what to say. We can't really talk about the future, you know? Nothing about the many years to come. But we don't want to be all weepy and sad, either. It's tough to know what tone to strike.
What sort of thing would you say, if you were in this situation? And help would be appreciated. Thanks!
Re: Could use some ideas.
Also, I'm sorry. This has got to be an emotional time, to say the least. Just to have you and your sisters have s party probably makes your dad burst with pride. Thoughts and prayers are with you.
