10 week old Sleeping through night but not napping in day

My 10 week old will sleep Around 9-10 hours during the night but I have trouble getting him to nap during the day. He might do a 30 min nap or a 45 on occasion or lately he just starts to fall asleep in my arms do I put him in bassinet and 10 min later I find him quiet just eating sucking on his hands awake! I take him for a walk abd he might sleep in stroller How can a little baby be awake all day?! And he gets cranky and fussy from being exhausted. He will make it until 630 and then crash. I then wake him to feed around 8 and put to bed. He used to take hour naps! Any suggestions

  • As soon as you see a yawn or flicking of the ear, act on it. Wind down whatever activity and put LO in a swing or swaddle with some white noise to lay down. Sometimes when I see my DD is tired but fighting it we hop in the car for 15 minutes and she dozes off. I'm lucky enough where I could quietly pull her out the seat and lay her down but you could always let LO sleep right in the car seat when you bring it in.

I've noticed how important naps are from keeping her crabby.

  • I'm going through the same thing. We are lucky to get an hour long nap during the day. It's usually only 45 minutes a few times a day, and he's cranky as all hell.

I think it's just a phase. I've found it helps to sit next to his bassinet. That way if he wakes up I can try to soothe him. I don't get any "me" time but it's hopefully only for a short period of time. I think eventually the naps start to lengthen. I am just trying to be consistent with his naptime and hope he eventually sleeps longer.
  • N does the same thing. She STTN but only takes very short cat naps during the day. It's exhausting! She's been doing this for a long time, so I don't think it's a phase. It's just how she is!
