If you have a chatty baby

Do you find that they go through "word phases"? For example, around 11 months DS called everything "dada." Eventually he narrowed down the meaning to DH, and then everything was "diaper." Same story, he figured out what a diaper actually is. Now it's "baby." I'm assuming this is a typical speech thing?

  • YES!  Olivia does the same thing.  Last week everything was "Doggy" and this week everything is "Buddy".  I'm hoping that "Mommy" will be next.  I didn't like being doggy 24/7.

  • Us too. Everything was "that" now everything is daddy or doggie. Makes me look bad when she points to a random man and says daddy
LOL I get more embarassed when she calls people doggie.

  • LOL at doggy! He's starting to like "poopy" so I'm dreading the first time he says that one in public.

  • HAHA I hope he uses poopy in public.  That would definitely be a great story to tell at Christmas dinner 2022.

  • Everything is 'shoe' in our house. Except for when the dogs bark and she sternly says "Shh."

  • Haha! Aren't they funny? V calls everybody and everything papa theese days. I keep correcting her that I am mama, not papa, but so far it did not help. I just hope she will eventially figure out that I am mama, not papa lol....

Bryson calls everybody Dada too.  It's ridiculous.  haha.

He goes through phases where things he doesn't know the words for are Dada or Bay-ee (Bailey, our dog).  For awhile, everything was Mama.
