Question about walking with shoes

If you have a baby that walks when did you put shoes on them? Ashley only takes about 3 steps right now but if I put shoes on her she goes all weird. How did you work in walking with shoes? Just little by little when they got better at walking?

Re: Question about walking with shoes

  • Emma doesnt walk yet but when we are out of the house I put shoes on her so I hope that helps with the transition for her. But I recently picked up a pair of skidders at target to wear around the house mostly because they were so darn cute but maybe they will help. Skidders are basically socks with a rubber sole.

  • @chricast I saw the skidders at Target too. Thanks for your input girls. I went to Payless today and had no idea what I was doing. I wanted to buy all the sparkle shoes but I held out  :P
  • Olivia doesn't walk but I put shoes on her once a day for a bit just so she gets used to standing in them and even having them on her feet.  The first few times she just tried to pull them off the whole time but now she's used to it, so she goes about playing/standing/sitting/crawling and keeps them on.

  • I read it's best for new walkers to be barefoot as much as possible in order for the foot to develop properly, so when LO starts walking I plan to do shoes only when we leave the house. Right now I put them on him for a little bit each day so he gets used to them.

  • @mbm1983 and @LauraT25 if you have a Payless shoes nearby they will measure your LOs feet for you.
