Pictures Rant

I'm going to try and keep this short but if it turns into a novel I have warned you :)

I have been talking with a photographer in our area for about 3 months sending picture ideas and keeping in contact with her. We booked the pictures about a month in advance an they are tomorrow. We are doing an outside shoot so she told me she would pick a location in my town so I didn't have to travel very far or take much time off work.

Well today I still don't have a location on where to meet her so I send her another e-mail asking where she would like to meet. She tells me she will not be able to come to my town and that I will need to go to her instead if I want the photos done.(she is not willing to reschedule) She is an hour away so it is really no big deal I will just have to take longer off work. Then I just get an e-mail from her saying I will need to bring the chair we are going to use,the balloons, and any other props I would like in her picture.

Don't get me wrong I don't mind bringing things like that but dang woman could you not have told me this last month. She told me she had everything covered and that I just needed her outfits and we would be good to go. I am paying her A LOT more than other photographers have quoted me but her pictures are amazing so I didn't not mind paying the extra, but WHY IN THE HELL is she telling me I need to bring EVERYTHING for this photo session? I sent her an e-mail asking her this and still don't have a response. Everyone who I spoke to before I paid my non refundable deposit said she was amazing and they highly recommended her.

Now I am rushing around trying to find all the props I need for tomorrow. I sure wish I could get my deposit back and tell her just not to worry about it but that is not an option. What would you ladies do? Sorry this turned into a book but I am beyond mad right now!!

    do you have all the emails she sent you saying that that she'd cover everything? I'd resend them to her and ask for your $ back.

    I do have all the e-mails and have already sent them to her. I'm waiting on a response now.

    If it were me, I'd go through with it, then just don't go back to her, unless she redeems herself somehow. Maybe something personal has come up and she's trying her best. You never know.

    This is what I plan on doing it just really upsets me. When I sent her the past e-mails my question to her was why did you tell me you had everything? Like I said I don't mind bringing props I just wish she would have said something sooner so I would have had time to prepare.

    The deposit alone was 200 dollars then I owe her another 150. I'm hoping that everything else turns out ok. I'm just going to be really upset if the pictures are not what I wanted and I have wasted all this money.

    personal stuff does not mean you get a pass on customer service.
    Did you sign a contract?

    Thank you ladies! I felt like I was acting crazy for being upset about it. I will give an update tomorrow on how things worked out. Wish me luck!

    I will have to pull out my contract when I get home and go over it. But I do have all the emails saved showing what I was told.

    If you paid on credit card you can call and stop payment if you feel you are in the right with the contract. I would be worried that I would be too mad and stressed for good photos.
