Saturday shower

A relative sorta gave me a hard time when I told her my shower would be on a Saturday.  I'm having a Saturday shower so that one of my closest friends and my SIL can attend since they'll be traveling.  I was told that people have a lot going on on Saturdays.  Well my invitations are being sent out about 4 weeks in advance so that people can plan.  Is a Saturday shower unusual?  I wish this was not getting to me but it is!  Grr!

    Not unusual.

    If someone has other plans on that particular Saturday they will either rescheule their plans or RSVP no to your shower.  It's really NBD.

    Your relative sounds cranky.

    In the fall, showers around here are usually on Sundays...but it's a big college football town.  Venues are usually booked and traffic is bad on Saturdays.

    Yeah, people have a lot going on on Saturdays... like showers! What a strange thing for your relative to complain about.

    I think a Saturday shower is nice for the mom to be because if she still works, it gives her a day to relax and go through all her gifts!  As a guest I prefer Saturday cause I like to know that I still have a whole day to myself the next day before going back to work on Monday.

    I prefer Saturday showers for that reason.  All my friends from college live a few hours away and Sunday's are just tough to travel.  If your relative has an issue with it, she doesn't need to come.  It's about YOU and what works best for YOU.

    It's not a big deal. She can decline if she can't make it.

    You will never be able to please everyone!  My shower was on a Saturday, it's not unusual.

    True, many people do have a lot going on on Saturdays... Normally when I am invited to a shower, it's 'one of those things going on.'  In my circle, showers are a big deal. They get written in the calender in pen and people make their plans around them. Also, I think the majority of showers I have been to have been on Saturday. Sunday is definitely acceptable, but most have just been Saturdays.
