third trimester nausea

anyone else have this? any tips on relieving it? the first trimester eating small meals all day helped me, but this seems to be a different type of nausea and i'm not sure how to manage it. it's been on and off for me since about week 35.

  • Same here. I still haven't found any relief...

  • Nausea in the 3rd tri can be because of reflux. Try zantac. It was the cure for me.

  • Probably because its not from the same cause. 1st Tri it's from an influx of hormones that make us nauseous! While in the 3rd tri it's most likely from your stomach running out of room and emptying slower. The food sits in your stomach and ferments the fermentation leads to gas and nausea. You can avoid foods that are hard to break down like hi-fiber such as broccoli and eating chicken vs
    Steak.

  • Yes, I have been having it on and off, mostly in the morning.  At the suggestion of some others on this board, sipping on Gatorade seems to help.

  • I take zantac for my heartburn, but I still have ms on most days. I take a zofran and I'm good to go.

I was doing this for a while, and in the beginning I was on zofran and phenergan. When I added Zantac, i was able to stop the phenergan, and eventually stop the Zofran. The MS returned. Turns out the Zantac stopped working. (My Dr. said this is common.) They moved me up to Nexium, and no more MS. I was able to stop taking Zofran, etc. I do have to eat something in bed before getting up. (I go with a blueberry eggo waffle, and it's breadish without being too high in sugar.)
I need to find out about nexium because the zantac barely touches my heartburn and reflux!

  • Also, I have to add that throwing up in the 3rd trimester is no joke. It is painful!
