LO is getting close to transitioning to the convertible carseat, and I am not sure how many to buy. We'll buy a nice one for my car, which is the one she is in 85% of the time. But then for DH's car, and each of the grandparents cars, I am not sure what to do. They all do some occasional pick up and drop-off at daycare. Right now we just transfer the infant bucket carseat to all the different cars. But once she is in the convertible, I'm not sure if we should get one second seat to pass all around, or 3 additional seats to stay permanently installed in all the other cars (even if they just transport her once a week). That seems excessive (and expensive)... but I don't think the convertible seats transfer as easily as the infant ones.
What are you all doing for 2nd (or more) cars? Or do you have advice/opinions on transferring convertible seats on a regular basis versus buying one for each car?
Re: how many carseats?
We have the Britax Boulevard in my car, and the infant seat still in DH's car. We switch out the bucket to the IL's if needed. When she outgrows it will we get a less expensive seat for DH's car, and if the IL's need one, they can use that one, or buy their own!

MIL said a friend gave her one, but we haven't seen/inspected it yet.
If we tell her it is no good, she will buy a new one, but I'm not sure how much she will be transporting LO at the moment.
However, after the next one...who knows.
I may or may not return to work, so she may not need a seat. Or she may need two.
ETA: either way, I am looking for a car that will accommodate 2u2 a 12 year old, and 2 adults.
@kiraliz2, so that means you bought 3 carseats, right?
Once DS outgrows the carrier, either we will buy a new seat for FMIL's car or she will. FFIL already said he will buy one for his car. We haven't decided yet if we will buy an alternate for us or not.
We have a Britax Marathon in my car (85% of time) and a Britax Roundabout in my DH's car (which rounds out about the rest of the time). However, we are realizing that we will need MIL to pick up V from daycare(and No I'm not happy about that!) every month when I have staff development so we just invested in another Roundabout.
If you are looking Diapers.com just had Britax and other seats on sale 20% off.
