funny mispronunciations

We did a thread like this a while back. What words does your lo get mixed up or say in a funny way?

S calls hummus Thomas. E.g. I like Thomas on crackers.

He had another cutely mangled word today. Dh told him he was impressed when lo pooped on the potty, and S asked "why are you impretzled?"

  • For eyelash Griff says "eyebrush" and for Toopy, as in Toopy and Binoo, he says "poopy."  I love having conversations with G.  I always end up laughing lol.

DS says "be-anna" for banana. He never used to mispronounce it until he learned how to say DD's name, Deanna.

He also calls airplanes "hairplanes". He always adds the h for whatever reason!

DD says Orange or-han-jay.  It cracks me up every time.  I'll say it correct and she repeats it her way.  She also calls flip flops her flop flops.

ETA - she also can not say grandma.  She calls both sets of grandparents Grampa.  I'm trying to get her to say Gram now instead.

  • Evie says uncomfortable "un-cun-tur-duh-ll"  It is so sweet.  She also adds an -es onto the end of some words, usually ones that you usually talk about plural.  For example: "shoes-es and socks-es"

  • O was wrestling around with DH last night, kind of throwing his body on him. We started calling it a "body slam". O can say "body" and he can say "slam", just not together. It comes out "bobby sam".

  • We had to buy a new refrigerator this past week, and C calls it a "fur-rate-er".  Apparently he must have played with some of the buttons on one too while at Home Depot b/c he keeps talking about how he "pushed the water thing on someone's furater and it light up and it scared me."

Jonny calls milk "milt" which I find cute.

Also we were on vacation last week and between the hotel and the airports w a stroller we were using the elevator a lot. The first time we said "Ok - let's get in the elevator now" he acted all scared and we couldn't figure out why. Once we got in he said in such a relieved tone, "oh - there is no alligators". Apparently he thought we were asking him to get in an alligator!

    LOL!

  • Annabelle says "Fall with" instead of "follow." But with = wiff.
So it sounds like, "Can I fall wiff you?" and "Fall wiff me!"
Sometimes I correct her, and other times I just smile because it's beyond cute.

  • Elliott likes to use the potty by himself, and every time he goes, he closes the door and says, "mommy! Get me alone!"

He also uses "my" instead of "I/I'm", like, "my tired" and "my coming!"

  • We've got sorts of speech issues here, but the best that I love are Melmo (Elmo), lellow (yellow) and p's for f's like pish (fish) and (peet) and bobot (robot)

We have a picture we drew together of a "bobot with lellow peet" :)

    me:  why are you yelling?
    oliver:  FROM....IM MAD!!

when he wants me to hold him he says "mommy, i want to pick you up".
  • Beautiful=Boofitul
Backyard=Baccuum-yard (because Baccuum is how he says "vaccuum"
    Basment= Base-ah-nent

Aw, I will miss these when they learn how to really REALLY talk!

  • C likes to refer to going outside as an "outside game".  "Mommy, can we go to my outside games?"  No idea where that came from.

And all her pronouns are a bit off which is super funny at times.  Everything is "mines" instead of mine.  I think this is because when we say "mine is..." we say it like "mine's".  :)

hehe...we get that one sometimes too..or just, "i want to hold you". love it.  i hope some of these stick around for a while. :)
  • These are all soooo cute!

J says a lot of words incorrectly, but you can usually decipher what he's saying. Some of my favorites are:

"Hangabugus" for hamburgers. "Frig mulk" (like frigate) for fridge milk. He still calls it that even though we are not nursing any more. There was fridge milk and mama milk. :) He has trouble with words that start with L, so he says he wants to eat "unch" and wants to name baby brother "ogan". Lol He still says "mine" for I and "mines" for my. So he'll say something like "Mine coming to get mines unch!" I love it. lol
I used to be a big deal.  Now I'm just old.
  • G has recently "lost" so many of his mispronounciations. Wahhhhhh! He used to say "I'm mad with you" instead of I'm mad at you. He's super into trucks but would call them "krucks.". He still says bahsgetti instead of spaghetti. And, lellow instead of yellow.

  • Oh I forgot a good one!  The other day we were driving in the car and C randomly says "Daddy has a big, big gina (vagina)!"

I immediately called my DH and told him that although he didn't want to go into the whole male anatomy with her so early I clearly had to today.  But at least she called it "big big" ;)  LOL

  • I love this thread.  I thought of another yesterday.  C calls "Christmas" "Chris-mon".  I have no idea where he go it from but he's seriously excited about Chrismon this year!

DS hasn't done his fully hilarious mispronunciations in a while (the ones that are swear words, e.g. "fuck" for "truck" and then later "flag," or "cock" for "clock") but he has done a lot of really cute ones recently.

He says bugrilla (buh-GRILL-a) for gorilla.
    And girls are grills, always.
    He says hang-uh-ber for hamburger
    He says cap-age for package.
He does the common "aminals" for "animals."
He called his uncle Scott uncle Sock for a long time. Still does, but you can see him working through it trying to make it right. Sometimes he'll say Stock. And one time he called his socks Scotts as he was working through this.
He kept calling a girl named Isabella "Elizabeth" instead, even though he doesn't know other Elizabeths.

I think he has a bunch of other examples of switching up consonants within a word, but I can't think of them right now. They're really cute, though!!

The interesting thing is that he knows he makes these errors and likes the word play and different sounds. He laughs about it.

Oh that reminds me! We have a friend who we see seldom named "Chris" that DS started to call "Chris-Chris." Then he started associating Chris with Christmas and he thinks this one book he has about Christmas is from this friend Chris. It is hilarious.
