Hi Everyone,
So, my LO is 25 weeks. I had started the transition around 23 weeks to get her out of the sleep suit-naps in a long sleeper and sleep sack, and she was doing great until her little tooth start popping out. she did some 45 minute naps but some naps were 1.5-2 hours.
so, I figured it was kind of cruel to take away something that was obviously comforting and familiar when she was in pain, so I kept the sleep suit. then, after her tooth popped out, her grandpa and grandma visit-bringing with them a cold. So now she's fighting a cold, and since I have her mattress elevated to help her sleep, she has rolled down the one time I didn't have her in her suit for a nap (in the wash). AND we're going on a 5 day trip next week, which is probably not a good time to take the suit away either.
SO-the goal is to start the transition out of the suit at 7 months. So my question for all of you who have transitioned/started the transition
-How did you do this? Did you do naps, or all at once?
-How long did it take?
-How old was your LO?
The reason I'm wanting to do it now is she's more mobile and has had some decent naps in the sleeper and sack. She can roll to front to back, and is almost crawling and close to sitting up on her own. I'd like to get her out before it becomes too much of a crutch as well.
TIA!
Any feedback is appreciated!
Re: Anyone start transition out of Merlins Sleep Suit?
My DS rolled onto his stomach one night in his sleep suit, so I decided to cut him cold turkey. So far the nights have gone smoothly. Naptime, however, is a different story. He cannot get himself to sleep during naptime, where he used to go right down in the sleep suit.
I have introduced a lovey, but it hasn't worked yet. I am actually writing this while he is screaming in his crib
I would maybe transition in steps. Maybe start with naps, and then work your way to night time. Or maybe try the opposite, which clearly I needed to do. Good luck!!
Today she fell asleep fast but woke up and didn't fall back asleep. I have her in a sleeper, I might just double her sleepers instead of a sleep sack so she can roll back to her back easier if she wants too.
She also had a slight cold as well. Ick
The second night was much better. About an hour and a half after she went down, I heard her whimper so I ran in and popped the paci in real quick before she woke up. The rest of the night she was much squirmier than normal but she stayed asleep, aside from her usual 2 a.m. wake up.
Tonight, so far so good, but she's only been asleep about an hour, so we will see.
How's naps for you guys? Nighttime sleep is still 10-11 hours, but naps are crap. Pretty sure it's just standard baby shenanigans that happens at 6 months (wanting to crawl but not quite there, realizing how fun mommy is and wanting to explore more) but also could be suite related.
ah well.
