Mae or Mabel

Siblings are Russell and Hazel.

Mae Patricia or Mabel Patrice. (MN honors my mom)

My worry is that Hazel and Mabel sound super similar...but I also think it's cute?

Hazel and Mabel are a little similar, but I like the two names together.

My vote is for Mabel Patrice. You could always call her Mae.

Mae!

I love Mabel, but I think it's a little too similar to Hazel. Also, Mae has always been one of my most favorite names (unfortunately we had to rule it out because it rhymes with our LN), so I always support other people using it. It's so simple and pretty.

I like Mae much better than Mabel. I think Mae still has the same feel as a name like Hazel, without sounding as matchy/matchy as Mabel does.

I was just saying to my good friend that I'm over Mae, I guess I just don't get it. Feels like a throw-away middle name to me, though I think Mabel is adorable and could always go by Mae.

I love Mabel, but I do think it's too similar to Hazel. Not a fan of Mae.

Hmm, I guess I see your point re: Mae being a "throw-away" in the middle name position, but to me it's not common at all as a first name and seems fresh and cute.

I was going to say Mabel until I saw your daughter is Hazel. Too similar, I vote for Mae.

But the OP is asking about it for a first name, not a middle name.

To me, that's changes everything.

OP, I do like Mae more as a first name. It's a bit different to hear it in that place, but it's lovely. I personally prefer Mae over Mabel, but I do understand the PPs who are saying that Mabel can still be called Mae.
