Well baby Lily is here... Two weeks early and in true Hollywood style. Here is the short version.
All day last Tuesday my stomach was tight. Like a BH that just wouldn't let go. I didnt think anything of it. It just felt uncomfortable.
Early monday morning I awoke hungry and had a banana. Once I laid down to bed I felt a POP and GUSH. It felt like Christmas morning. I was calm and excited.
So here is where it gets to be like in the movies. I woke my husband with those imfamous words "my water broke!" My husband was panicked and running around the house. I phoned my midwife to let her know - Im still very calm and full of joy at this point. Our plan was to labour at home and deliver at hosp. She told me to go back to bed and hopefully my contractions would start so I could avoid being induced and have a drug free labour. I even had an at home IV ready to go since I tested positive for GBS. I decided I should shower and shave my legs.
As Im getting all dolled up the contractions started. They were on top of each other about an hour after my water broke and I felt the urge to push. No midwife there yet. We phoned her and we raced to the hospital. My husband scrambles our things together and left our front door wide open. He ran red lights and I was trying to breath so not to push.
We arrived at the hospital with my midwife waiting at the door with a wheelchair. My husband was parking the car and i was wheeled up to my room. She checked me - I was 10 cm.
Hubby came back and I was already pushing - squatting style on the bed. After 30 mins of pushing I delivered Lily. She latched on 5 minutes after being born. It was nothing short of amazing. This FTM felt like she concurred the world. My natural childbirth was one of the best experiences of my life. Short. Sweet. And full of strength.
I guess this wasnt short at all. It felt good writing this out. Thank you to those that stuck with me to the end.
Here is Lily. We love her so much.
Just a funny side note. My husband asked me the other day " when did your ass get so hairy?" LOL the joys of pregnancy.
