I've been using a bubaroo Joey pouch for my baby for the past couple months or so. It's not as firm as swaddling but keeps the limbs more contained. She's now just about 4 months and looks like it won't be long before she can turn onto her tummy herself... So I thought I should try and get her out of the pouch and just lay her in her cot (which is a long process ... Another story lol!)
Anyway... She really got quite upset but when I finally got her down she had a grasp of my fingers but kept startling and crying ... I could soothe her by holding her hands to her chest and 'ssshh-ing' but eventually she got too upset and I had to put her in the pouch again. Does it sound right that she still has the startle reflex?? I thought it would be gone at this stage? Anyone got any advice? Thanks!

Just wanted to update on the sleep suit. While I wouldn't say it's magic, it has definatley helped.
DS slept in his crib all night which is a first so I think that says alot. We put him down at 7:30, he started to wiggle a little around 8:30, putting hands in mouth etc but unlike waking like he normally does he settled down after a few minutes and went back to sleep!!! He then slept until 12:30am, I went in put his pacifier back in and held his hand for a minute and he went back to sleep until 2:30am, when he wanted a bottle, then back to sleep until 5:30am. So overall while I'm not happy that he stopped sleeping his 10-11hr stretch, I am happy he stayed in the crib and was fairly calm most of the night. I think the waking up frequently has nothing to do with the crib since he was starting to do it in the rocknplay a few days ago.
He can still move in the suit and even roll from side to side so I'm not sure how long he'll end up staying in it before he can roll onto his stomach but I think we're going to keep using it for now!
