Not STTN consistently?

DD sleeps through the night about 80% of the time but still at least once a week she is waking up and crying.  She has become an awesome napper and goes to sleep great  but I just do not understand why she is still not consistently sleeping through the night.  Anyone else still have middle of the night wakings?

Re: Not STTN consistently?

  • Baby Aggie still does that. It's probably a bigger PITA if you're working, but I'm a SAHM so it doesn't really bug me all that much. As long as it's less than 2 wakeups per night, and less than 2 or 3 nights per week, it's not a problem for us. I figure bad dreams are hard to understand when you're that itty bitty, so I don't fight the comfort nursing.

  • DS just recently started waking up crying in the middle of the night. He hasn't eaten overnight since 8 weeks, so it's not hunger. He has a cold, tummy upset with the transition of formula to WCM, possible teething.. so I'm not sure what's going on. I've been comforting him, which usually just takes a back rub but other nights I have to hold him for a little while. He's doing it anywhere from 1-3 times. I hope it's just a phase and that we don't have to do any type of CIO again.

  • At least once or twice a week DD wakes in the MOTN.  Last night she squawked for 2 hours until I got up at 4 and changed a poopy diaper :(  I don't know why she wakes up, but she hardly ever poops overnight, so I'm thinking that's what last night was all about.

  • DD is the same. Although since DH came home it's more like STTN 20% of the time. Hopefully she feels like things are back to normal soon. I have no idea why she randomly wakes up.

  • It is off and on with us too. I never sleep though the night myself, so I guess I can see how he wakes up sometimes too. I just posted earlier about how it is hard now because he isn't nursing anymore, so I'm not quite sure what else to do to comfort him. If I go in he wants to get up, read, go see daddy, etc.

  • Not alone!  Emery still bed shares and is up various amounts every night nursing.  I'm doing this whole parenting thing more or less the same as our older two, and they turned out ok and are good sleepers now at 5 and 7.  I am able to take it all much more relaxed this time because I know it all works itself out in the end.

  • but like @aggiedaner said, I SAH so the lack of sleep some nights doesn't kill me like it would if I were a working parent.

  • W usually gets up once, but 2 or 3 times a week, he gets up and wants to come to bed with me. I don't mind though. I SAH, so if I'm tired, I just take a nap when he does.

  • We just went from usually twice a night to only once (at least only one that lasts more than a minute) in the last week. Finally getting 7 straight hours of sleep some nights now!

  • Last night was the first time T didn't wake up in the middle of the night.  For the last several months he had reverted to waking 2-3 times a night, usually just in need of his binky and his lullabies played one more time, or to get a limb unstuck from between the crib rails. I never pick him up though unless the binky doesn't stop the crying. Somehow he knows to wake up right around 4:30am, so I just barely get back to sleep before the alarm jars me awake again for another blasted day of work. Hopefully we can all get uninterrupted sleep again soon!

  • DD has been waking up at least once, sometimes twice at night since July when we went on vacation. I think sleeping in her pnp while at the beach confused her a bit. Then after we got home, she got sick for the first time ever which obviously was tough for her to sleep and now she's cutting her molars so I imagine that's pretty miserable. I still BF and I've been patient with her getting up because of all the circumstances. I just hope she's not forming bad habits. Hoping after her molars she'll settle back into STTN again.

  • DS has always been a big night nurser. he was doing pretty well though with sleeping about 8 or 9 hours straight, then waking up in the early morning to nurse... but the past 10 days or so he has been waking up multiple times a night. @_@ i just realized we are around the 55 week wonder week so i'm hoping it's related to that.
  • DD has never slept through the night.  Ok, maybe once or twice ever.  At 9-10 months she was still getting up and BFing 3 times a night.  Over the last 3 months she's naturally cut down to only 1 MOTN feeding.  I hope she drops this last MOTN feeding on her own.  I'm one very exausted working mama!  I just miss her soooo much during the day that I guess its nice to get extra time with her at night ... although at this point I would much rather have the sleep!

  • My DD still does too!! Last night she woke up twice and wouldn't go back to sleep until I rocked her to sleep!! She's teething so I'm thinking that's making her wake up! Hope it stops soon!
  • Dd sttn sometimes but lately has been waking atleast once. Usually its 2:30

Glad to hear im not the only one still getting woken up.
  • Keith is only STTN about 50% of the time. I get up with him and rock him and nurse him and he goes back to sleep. Idk why he doesn't sleep but I read an article the other day that said that new research points to sleep habits being genetic not necessarily related to environment. I'll see if I can find it.

  • Feels good to know were not alone.  DS only STTN about 50% of the time I would say.  And if he wakes, we just change and rock for 15-20 mins.  So not horrible I guess.

  • DS2 has been STTN since 5 or 6 months and in the past few weeks hes been waking up crying, like, 3-4 times a week.  He'll cry for a few minutes and then fall back asleep.  I'm certain its teething.  The other night I gave advil before bed and he didn't wake up.  Today I saw another tooth cut through so we gave advil again tonight.  *sigh*   [-O<  I hope he STTN cause I'm tired.

  • Dd is the same.

  • I can't complain much. J wakes up around 2 or 3am for a bottle, and a diaper change (he hates wet diapers.) At that point he's been sleeping for 7ish hours, and goes right back to bed until 8 or 8:30am. I get him at night because I'm usually still awake, and SO wakes up in the am.
