I can't decide if we should use a diaper genie! I get such mixed reviews from friends like its so gross and smelly or some love it and can't live without it. Thoughts?
I found one at a garage sale for $3 that was still in the box w/ the plastic on it! I still have a couple months left until I use it but for $3 I'm pretty sure I won't be disappointed.
We registered for the arm and hammer diaper pail. The reviews I read were less disgusting. Haven't had any real life disgusting reviews yet - everybody I talked to that had one loved it. I'm still in the mindset that the diapers just go to the trash can after changing, but apparently I have a lot to learn lol
When I bought it, hubby and I thought it was ugly and pointless... Until we used it and realized we didn't have to go downstairs or dump the garbage every time we changed a diaper! Now we love the diaper genie. It is so refreshing to leave a diaper overnight or not having to go outside to the trash to avoid the scent in your home. It really does work!

I have have had a diaper champ and 2 genie's. And both by 18 months or so of pretty continued use, just stink! My only issue with the diaper genie is the mouth isn't overly large so if you have a full diaper u gotta kind of shove it down, and who wants to touch, much less push a full diaper down.
We still use ours. When DD's poop really started to smell, we did start taking poop diapers outside. Maybe doing that is the reason ours doesn't smell after 25 months of use. Love it.
I'm a FTM but I will say I bought mine used on kijiji for $10 (that way if its a bust I don't feel bad about wasting money). The reason I think I will use it is because we only have two garbages on the second floor of our house and both are tiny bathroom garbages... so I think I will need something else to deal with middle of the night diapers and a big black garbage bag doesn't seem appealing.
I registered for a Diaper Dekor Plus, have heard good things about it from friends.
We have a Dekor for DD and love it! The bags are super easy to change and the smell is gone when a diaper goes in. Thankfully, DD has been pooping on the potty pretty consistently now so we will definitely we using it in the new nursery.
