Prenatal vitamins

Hi, h and I decided we want to start TTC. I've heard it's good to start taking prenatal vitamins pre-pregnancy. Can anyone suggest or recommend a brand or type?

Re: Prenatal vitamins

  • I take vitafusion gummies because they don't have the extra iron which backs me up. Really any OTC prenatal is fine as long as it has 800 mcg of folic acid. Some docs also recommend DHA as well and most OTC PNV have it in them as well. Some woen just takes regular multivitamin and add extra folic acid. You have lots of choices.

  • I take New Chapter prenatals and a Nordic Natural DHA supplement. These are whole food based and organic, which are important to me. You have to take it 3 times a day which sounds like a lot, but your body can't absorb everything if you take all your daily vitamins once per day. You can also take them on an empty stomach...which is awesome. However perfectly healthy babies on all kinds of vitamins, so you really probably can't go wrong.
