From 0 to 60 in 2.2

LO has started this thing where she's perfectly content one second, then all of the sudden she's screaming her lungs out. DH and I went on our first Walmart outing today together and she was perfectly quiet until we got in the checkout line, then had a complete meltdown. She was crying so hard I was questioning how she was even breathing. I have no clue why she's started this, but it really upsets me when she cries so hard. Does anyone else have any experience with this? Am I missing something on why she's doing this? Wondering what you ladies think!

  • Maybe overstimulated b the environment? Or did you miss early hunger cues because you were distracted in the store.

I agree. We've only had this happen one time (because LO is usually sleep during outings) and it was because we missed the hunger cues. Did you feed/change/burp before the outing? If so, it could've been the different environment.

But honestly, while at home, my LO just cries some times. He's dry, full and burped but just wants to be held. That could've also been the issue.

  • I'm going with hunger. This happened the other day to us. We had her 2 week appt and my 2 week pp appt all in the same morning. We took a bottle of breast milk for her knowing we would be in between meals. We were in the waiting room for my appt after hers and out of the blue she woke up screaming. She usually gives us warning but not this time. Luckily we had the bottle ready and she calmed right down.

  • Too hot in car seat? Needs changed? She could've been over stimulated and even though she was "sleeping", it may haven't been a good sleep so she was fussy. Or she's just crying to be held, my lo does that quite often.

  • I'm thinking it must've been just cuz she wanted to be held.. I had just given her a bottle when she did it today so that wasn't it. She's a little diva!

  • My LO does that from time to time. It makes me feel so horrible, but after making sure the basics have been taken care of (feed, changed, etc) I just have to hold and rock him until he calms back down.
He has reflux though so sometimes out of the blue that will be what's bothering him. Have you noticed any reflux issues with your LO?

  • I want to cry every time I go to Wal Mart too ;) ..

No really.. Same thing happened to me only at Target.. He was perfect until checkout. It's like the opposite of the calming reflex I read about.. The crying reflex!

Not really.. she spits up once in a while, but its never much and doesn't happen all the time. Maybe I'll ask my pedi about it tomorrow at her appt.
