Sudden sleep changes & getting DS into crib - long

DS is 4 months and has been sleeping 10-11 hours since he was about 2 months old. He's always been a good sleeper, right from the start he would do a 4-5 hour stretch every night. I stopped BF at 2.5 months and he's now FF. However he has been sleeping in the rock n play almost exclusively. We did have him in the crib for the 4-5hr stretch when he was in his 2nd month but we had to swaddle him. Once he started breaking out of the swaddle all the time we ended up putting him in the rock n play. I knew the day would come when we'd have to make the transition back to the crib and it's definately time. He is trying to turn on his side in the rocknplay all the time now. 

We started last weekend because it was a long weekend, he'd do 2hrs tops in the crib and then wake up, go back down for 1/2hr to an hour and be back up again until he'd eventually get to the point he wouldn't go back to sleep at all, we'd give in and end up sticking him in the rock n play. We tried a few times during the week as well to no avail. He moves around so much even while in the sleep sack. Last night he kept hitting the side of the crib with his feet. 

Now he's also been waking up several times a night the last two nights, I guess I had it too good the last 4 months!

I ordered the merlin sleep suit and we got it today, I think it might help with the crib because the main issue is he moves around so much he is always waking himself and then can't seem to calm back down. But I'm also concerned because of the the pattern that's happened the last two nites, he just doesn't seem happy sleeping anywhere but on Mom. We are trying to avoid CIO because we live in the city in an apt and I really like my neighbors and want to be respectiful of their peace and quiet, I hate to torture everyone with DS crying. Anyone have real success stories with the sleep suit and a very active LO sleeper?

    I could have written this myself! We did the exact same thing. We have successfully transitioned from the RNP to her PNP using the sleep suit. Seriously a miracle product. LO has been using it for a few weeks now and the magic has not worn off. We haven't moved her to her crib in her room yet, but plan to in the next couple of weeks, keeping the sleep suit in use. Good luck! Hope it works as well for you!! :)

    I would try putting him in the crib,and swaddling but leaving his arms free. I did this with LO and then slowly took away the swaddle. The swaddle helped keep him from going completely bananas in the big crib. He definitely squirmed, but he couldn't get to far and eventually tired out. He now sleeps with just pjs or a sleep sack. Hope this helps!
