Crying non stop

I have a two and a half week old. She was doing ok but as time goes on her crying is worse. Last night was the worst. Started around 830 to midnight non stop hysterical crying. Nothing we did helped her. I breastfeed swaddled walked around did a bath tried colic calm tummy drops did the shushing sounds car rid nothing helped calm her down. Around 1230 she I think was so wore out she feel asleep for about 2 hours got up changed feed she slept an hour and has been right back at crying all day today. I am at my wits end and don't know what else to do. Thank god my husbands here as I'm so lost myself....

Re: Crying non stop

  • Have you called your pediatrician? That's seems like a lot for a two week old. I hope it gets better soon!

  • Does she seem content when she is feeding? And only seems to cry when she is off the breast? Like PP said, it could be a growth spurt where all she will do for a couple days is eat eat eat. I went through it at exactly 3 weeks and it is EXHAUSTING but it is only temporary.
  • A TOTALLY random suggestion (because this could be lots of things) - check her over head to toe.  I've heard horror stories of hysterical babies with nothing helping in the slightest, only to find out the baby has a hair tightly wound around a finger or toe.  Sounds random as hell, I know, and it's probably not that but I've heard of it multiple times so it's worth a look.

  • I agree with the growth spurt idea and it can't hurt to look her over from head to toe like pp said. Feed her and give gas drops after feedings. I use Little Remedies, it's simethicone and can be used up to 12 x's/day.

  • Agree check head to toe. DD hated tags on her clothing as a newborn for example. Also you actually might be doing too much. Try feeding her and putting her in a swing on gentle with some white noise. She might need time to herself to check out a bit & collect herself.

  • try wearing it throughout the day too. she might just be a baby that wants/needs to be close to mama in order to feel safe and not overstimulated.
