Preemie

I'm 30 weeks pregnant and my water has already broken, so I could have my baby at any time. If I end up having her sometime in the next week or two she will be around 3 pounds and be spending several weeks in the NICU so by the time we get to bring her home she'll be around 4-5 pounds. DH and I are planning to CD when LO comes home. I'm buying some prefolds and fitteds from GMD for the prefolds do I get the preemie size or do I just get the newborn size?

    I had both my kids at 37weeks, but they only weighed 5lbs. I used newborn stuff on them and it was a decent fit. Preemie stuff would have fit too, and probably not so bulky. For baby #3 I have bought some preemie prefolds to use in anticipation of the same thing happening. Worst case I can use them for burp clothes or stuffing pockets later.

    I lent my nb stash to a friend, her baby was 5.5lbs leaving the hospital. I had bummis preemie prefolds, and while my term baby outgrew them in a week, she used them for over 10 weeks. Best covers were rarz nb and bummis nb. Rarz nb lasts a lot longer though because it expands bigger. Those preemie prefolds have tons of other uses, so I would buy them anyway to make diapering a little easier in the start.
