Trying to Get Pregnant

Tell me if this is normal...

I have had a temp of 97.6 for five days in a row now. That seems like a hell of a coincidence.

Two of those five days, I used two thermometers, and both of them gave that reading.

Is this just one of those weird things that happens sometimes, or do you think it could be environmental? Any ideas? I'm not worried about it, just wondering if I should go vaginal.

Here is my chart... We are currently preventing, hence the lack of (unprotected) sex during FW.

Re: Tell me if this is normal...

  • I get several days in a row at the exact temp, too. I thought my thermometer was broken, so I bought a new one- I even temped with both and got the same results. I can't say that it's normal, but it isn't uncommon!

  • AppleGrapeMSTK Good to know. I just thought five days was a little excessive. By the way, how are you feeling this morning?

@gonzol Yeah, I wondered if it was the thermometer, so I bought another one. I used both of them this morning and two days ago and they had the same reading...

  • Since it's only measuring to the tenth of a degree it could be small ups and downs that just aren't registering.  Especially if you already tried testing it with a second thermometer and getting the same results.   But like @applegrapeMSTK said, it happens.

Hmm... Maybe I should buy one that goes to the hundredth, then. Good things it's almost CD1.

  • That happened to me last month but it was 3 days in a row right when I ovulated. If it was on two different thermometers I think it's just coincidence.

  • @jasperk23 DH just asked me the same thing haha! I took Aleve and had a huge glass of water before bed. I actually feel pretty good, which surprises me.

All right, I guess it's a new BBT for me.

    Thanks for the input, ladies!

ETA: Well, I guess I don't necessarily need a new one. I just won't have to second-guess my repeat temps.

You don't need a new thermometer if your temp shifts are clear.  I started with a regular thermometer to the tenths place.  My shift is 0.4 to 0.5 degrees after ovulation so I always saw it clearly.  If your shifts are similar, don't spend money on a new one; it just isn't necessary.  Temps the hundreths are really helpful if your shift is small.
Yup... That was in my edit a few minutes ago on my last comment. :)

Temp shift is golden, I'm not gonna worry about it.

  • I get 97.4 _ often. If my thermometer didn't measure to a hundredth of a degree, I would get 97.4 a lot.

  • It has happened to me too. I bought a new thermometer also and the temps were the same. I think you're ok. Like PP said, as long as you get a noticeable shift

  • Maybe you should play the lottery with those numbers? If you used two different thermometers and got the same thing, I don't see how it could be a mistake.
  • When I was charting I had some pretty consistent temps sometimes. Like PPs said, if you are getting clear temp shift readings I wouldn't worry about it.
