Baby Picture Confusion?

As I’ve been reading twin prep books I’ve not encountered multiple strategies for identifying your babies in pictures.  Is this really a problem?  Will it be hard to tell them apart initially?  Specifically in photographs.

The “experts” have suggested either dressing them in pre-determined colors (A – cool colors, B – warm colors) or always placing them on the same side during photos (A – left side, B – right side).

If this is necessary please share your method for telling them apart in pictures.  Thank you!

Re: Baby Picture Confusion?

  • Ours are identical. We kept Isla in pink because pink and Isla have four letters. OR in pictures we did Isla on left because left and Isla have 4 letters and right and Halle have 5.

  • We have 5 week old boy/girl twins and they have looked completely different from the day they were born.
  • I actually have an easier time now telling them apart in old pictures than I did at the time. At the very beginning, they each wore a different colored hat so that helped with the early hospital pix (mine are ID, but they have always had a significant size difference, so telling them apart has not been an issue).

  • My boys are fraternal but in the first couple weeks I had a hard time identifying them in individual pictures. Now those same pics are easy, but early on it was harder. IRL, it's never been an issue. Their coloring and size are different.

  • Identical girls here and I did *try* to always put A on the left but it didn't always happen. I'm embarrassed to say that I have pictures where I have no clue who's who.

  • We put Logan on the left for most pictures until family could tell them apart. Logan's bed is still on the left. They are fraternal but there are some newborn shots where you can only see some of their face and we can't tell who is who...

  • My 12 week old girls are identical and I dress one in solids and one in patterns. Or, if the outfits are both solids or both patterns, baby A gets pink. I also started a photo stream on my iPhone that I share with family, which allows us to comment and label who is who in the picture that day.

Don't feel bad... I have some of those pics too.
