Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Please recommend your newborn 0-3 month bottles..considering switching from Medela.

We are expecting LO#2 and I am considering whether to just get new nipples and re-use our Medela bottles for the first few months (we used Dr. Brown's once DS grew out of those) , or completely change and try a new brand altogether? The reason why is because the Medela bottles didn't have any kind of venting system to prevent gas and I know there are other brands out there that do so I thought DS#2 might benefit more from that.  Thoughts/opinions/experiences?  Thanks!

  • Playtex ventaire.. Seems to help with gas and I like that it comes apart for thorough cleaning ( wide slow flow)
  • Loading the player...
  • I use Avent bottles and have been very happy with them.

  • We have Avent and Tommy Tippee (slow flow types for both to get as close to BF as possible since we only use them to supplement BFing sessions) but have been using the Avent more because they seem to be slower flow, and it takes DD longer to get through them.

  • We have Tommee Tippees. They seem to work well

  • I used Avent with DD1 since Tommee Tippee was such a fast flow, she was spitting up a lot. We are using glass Dr Browns with DD2 now since reusing the old plastic wasn't sitting well with me. Plus, I'm SAHM now, so she will only get a bottle 2-3 times a week.

  • I use Tommee Tippee. He seems to really like them and doesn't get really gassy from them. I've tried the Avent and Ventaire as well...he drank from both but I hated the extra parts of the Ventaire for cleaning.
  • I just started using the Advent "natural" ones. I like them so far. I have also used Born Free- they just have more pieces to clean.

  • We like the Playtex Vent-air and the Playtex nursers with disposable liners...LO is breastfed so he gets a few bottles a day.

  • We use Dr. Brown's, VentAire wide, and Avent classic. I like them all, but Avents are probably our favorite.

  • Dr browns. I had tommee tippie but the flow was too fast for DD; she would choke. So we bought dr browns and premie nipples( even though she is not a premie) and that worked wonderful.

  • We use glass dr brown's 4 oz bottles for feeding.  I pump into the medela bottles then  feed him with the dr brown's.  He gets less gas feeding from his bottle then he does feeding from me!
  • Between the three kids, we have tried Playtex Drop-In Nursers, Dr. Browns, Playtex Ventaire, and Avent and have always went back to the Playtex Drop-Ins.

  • My baby was in the NICU so we switched to Dr. Brown bottles because they were most like the hospital nipples that he was used to. However, after he became more used to breastfeeding, he really liked the wide tommee tippee bottles. There's no harm in buying one of each just to try them out!
  • We tried Playtex Ventaire, Medela, and Avent. LO liked and took to the Playtex Ventaire the best.
  • Glass Born Free seems to work well for my LO. We also tried Platex Drop Ins and Evenflo...she seems to prefer the Born Free ones though.

  • We use Platex Ventaire Wide and Avent.
  • We use Dr Brown as soon as we introduce a bottle. The regular bottles, not wide mouth, fit right on to the Medela pumps.
  • LO likes Tommee Tippee best. He used to drink from anything but within a month or so developed a clear preference for these.
  • We've had the best results with Avent Naturals.
