LO initiating peek-a-boo!

For the past week or so, DD has actually been initiating games of peek-a-boo with us!  She'll take a burp cloth, book, toy, and on one occasion a tube of diaper cream, hold it over her eyes until we ask, "Where'd Amelia go??" and then she peeks out and starts laughing.

She's also been initiating "so big" since a little before she turned 6 months (although until recently she only did it if she had a toy in her hands to hold over her head, now she clasps her hands together to do it).

She'll be 7 months on Tuesday, I didn't really expect that she'd be doing stuff like that this soon!  Apparently (at least according to a quick Google search) actually initiating games like this, as opposed to simply being entertained by them when someone else initiates, is more of a 9-12 month milestone.  Just curious if anyone else's LOs are doing this yet?  I was getting a little bit worried that DD hasn't had any interest in trying to crawl yet, but now I think I know where she's been focusing her energy lately! ;)

Re: LO initiating peek-a-boo!

  • Our LO initiates peek-a-boo with us too! It's so cute! He holds his lovey, blanket, or toy over his head and peeks out and laughs when we ask, "where's baby??" He also "high fives" us when we put out our hand and say "high five!" He recently started initiating high fives by holding out his hand and waiting for us to "high five" him back. Our DS has no interest in crawling either. I guess all babies develop at their own pace!
  • Loading the player...
  • When we do peak a boo, E just looks at us like we are crazy.

  • I think DS likes the part where I "hide" more....not sure what that means! :P
