The park we go to almost every day has a lot of nannies watching kids. There are two kids that go there quite frequently with their nanny. I've noticed the nanny before and actually complained to DH about how little she watches the kids. I've seen her half way across the park standing in the shade or with her back turned to the kids talking to other nannies. She's not mean to the kids or anything, just never watches them. Anyway today I saw them at the park and the little boy she watches got bit by a squirrel! I brought over a band-aid and ointment and told her I thought she should really call the parents, which she did. After she talked to the mother she came back and said that the mother was asking her how this could have possibly happened, etc. It's just sad because the parents probably think she is a good nanny, apparently she has been with the family for five years. They have no clue that their kids are being totally ignored. Anyway no point to this post, it just makes me sad.
The little boy seemed fine. The bite was pretty minor though it did break the skin. The parents called the doctor and apparently from what they said squirrels do not typically carry rabies.
