omg...so at32 minutes we started to notice she was quiet for a while and then she would cry again. I looked at the monitor and it turns out she's sleeping standing up...then she wakes herself and cries again. Every time I go in I feel like i'm making it worse...it's been 57 mins..it's quiet...we'll see for how long.
Thanks @Wally3. She woke up at 3:13 and fell asleep at 4:40. I went in at 3 mins 5, 10 and then 30. I found when I went in, I just made it worse. Then she was up again at 5:15 but fell asleep at 5:45 with one check in. This morning she was up at 7:45...i'm amazed. It's definitely not perfect, but much improved and the first time she hasnt been in our bed in a LONG time...
well, night #2 went amazing...she fell asleep in 26 minutes and DIDN'T WAKE UP ALLLLL NIGHT!!! she got up at 6:15am. it was like 9.5 hours straight...I can't believe it. We were at a birthday last night so we went to bed a little later than usual. I still can't believe it...she STTN--again. After 4.5 months!
If anyone is skeptical, just give it a try. Give it a try...7 days. Commit. I'm amazed. Honestly.
So with Ferber do you rock her to sleep at all? Our routine is snuggle/rock to sleep then I put him in his crib and he sleeps through the night. If he's sick or teething he will get up at night, but usually puts himself back to sleep or sometimes I have to rub his back a bit. If he's going through a growth spurt or sick he will want to eat at night 1x
With Ferber do you just put a fully awake baby in the crib and walk away? I know you come in at certain intervals to comfort them and increase the time/distance away. If I put him in the crib and he's awake for naps, he stands up and jumps up and down and cries. So I just snuggle until he's sleepy and put him down
@albjag No rocking...we go up and put pjs, give a bottle then kisses, drop her in the crib and go. She FREAKKKKS out for a minute...then it calms down. Watch the clock. A minute feels like an eternity when your baby is screaming. Keep yourself busy with something. Go in after 3 minutes, put her paci back in, and make her lay down again WITHOUT PICKING HER UP. She was grabbing onto my shirt a few times so hard that I almost left it there with her. But I managed to pry myself away. Don't stay in the room very long either...30secs to a min max. Leave again...then go back after 5 mins, repeat after 10. After the 3 and 5 though, I left it longer,..like 25-30 mins, because I found she was calming down and me going in there was making it worse. So we watch her on the monitor and leave her. She can put her paci in by herself, so she really doesn't need us there. Eventually she falls asleep standing up...then she sits, and finally, she's down. It's amazing.
AND today, I've found that she seems happier...she's laughing at everything and playing more...i don't know if it has anything to do with that, but so far, this is been the greatest thing i've ever done for her.
Re: Ferberizing tonight...UPDATED
