Marathon vs Boulevard (Britax convertible carseat)

I know they are really similar, but does anyone have experience or advice on choosing between the two?

From what I can tell, the Marathon is easier for the child to see out of and $25 cheaper, but the Boulevard's features are a little bit safer?

Does anyone have either and have raves or complaints about it?

TIA

  • The Boulevard has the true side impact wings which are nice, but not necessarily safer.
My girls never had an issue being able to see out the windows in it.

  • We have the boulevard and love it. She can seat out the window fine now, and when she was smaller she had no want to see out the window she just stared at herself in the mirror.

  • thanks!  I'm glad to learn your LOs can see around the side impact flaps...

  • We have the marathon and I only have raves about it. I live that the shoulder straps are one-hand adjustable. I love the little Velcro spots to keep the straps in place while putting the child in. It doesn't take up a ton of room. Love it all around.

  • We have the Boulevard too and love it. I don't know much about the marathon, but DS lived his cars eat and seeing out was never a problem for him.

  • We had the Marathon. But after I was in a car accident (DS was not with me), I replaced it with a different seat. It's important to me to RF as long as possible, and unless your child is at the 30th percentile or lower, the Marathon doesn't really work for that. It doesn't have a high enough seated height limit. Aside from that, the straps kept getting twisted, and it was difficult to install.

We got the Chicco NextFit instead.

This is true for the Boulevard as well. The shells on Britax seats are very short.

  • Comes down to preference, I'd go for the Marathon, it's fine. I'm a bit jealous. I love the fabric on those seats, but it didn't make sense for me to me to get a pricey seat with a short shell for 95%ile++ kids.
  • we went with the boulevard because the thicker wings around the head made it much more comfortable looking when my kiddo fell asleep.  the marathon didn't seem like it would hold his neck as straight.

FWIW, my kiddo is now 3 1/4, about 33 pounds, and 38-39ish inches tall and fits just fine in the boulevard FF.
  • I registered for the blvd and got it!! FYi. It's cheapest in amazon.
  • Just wanted to say that Diapers.com has Britax carseats 30% off right now through Thursday. Maybe this will help some moms out!

I love the extra head protection (True Side Impact) that the Boulevard has.  I love any extra protection, especially head protection that I can get for my little ones.  Both of my children have used the Boulevard and neither have a problem seeing out of the side.  My son uses it on a regular basis now, he is 15 months and RF and always watching out the side at his 3.5 year old sister.
  • We have the Marathon 70 and I've generally been very happy with the seat. The installation was easy, the straps never twist (one of my biggest complaints about the straps in our spare seat), and DS has always been very comfortable and had good neck/head support in it, and he's been in it since birth. About the only negative thing is that the fabric (we have the Onyx) is very warm and DS sweats in it even with the A/C.

  • We have the Boulevard and my 2.5 year old complains that the bottom strap is to tight. It can't be adjusted. She's 35 lbs. I'm in another board and a lot of the moms with Boulevards said their kids complain about the same thing. It sucks, bc when I was researching which convertible seats to get, I only read great reviews for the boulevard. If your kid is bigger, definitely look at something else.
